Having a problem where my screen (video) freezes, but I can hear everything else in the game continuing on as usual, can chat (hear keyclicks and chat entry, but I can't see what I write), can die (as per myself exploding), can hear voice chats and notices.
My computer gets locked up hardcore, forcing me to hard-reboot.
I'm trying the solution with sound acceleration to see if that helps, but I'm banned from the game for an hour for a really stupid reason....
Hopped on a newbie server without noticing that I spontaneously became rank 5.
WTF happened to 1 thru 4???
Seriously, I'm still a newbie to this game.
Ask anyone who finds me, I'm an easy kill.
whatever....I'll figure this crap out later when the ban is lifted..

Your rank is automatically raised to 5 when your Sigma (Certainty of rank) passes a certain number.
Also, newbie servers suck for more than the really basic gameplay stuff (Like almost any game). If you can fly a ship, the main game is a better place to learn, as you can ask questions and people will usually help

sounds like a gfx card problem, what card are you using? And did you update your graphics card drivers recently? Depending on the problem it might be fixed by using the alpha graphics client, but it's nice if you post the template found

Welcome to the game and what a bummer... You got a higher rank and a boot reward.
Your game freeze could be any number of things so we'll need you to fill out the template so we know some details and can better help you.
Right off the bat, I should advise you to experiment WITHOUT any mods (such as reticule) to the game. There are a lot of problems lately, similar to yours, that are connected to mod installs on top of the game files.

lost track of this thread ><
anyways I was talking with people on TS and found a semi-solution.
as posted in another thread, Esc, D, A, A, Esc, Esc.
toggle hardware accel off and back on to reset it in game, fps jumps back to normal.
I have no mods installed, btw. (only thing I tried changing was one of the build models)
