3D bullets, just like the ones from Star Wars: X-Wing <3
Cant we replace the 2d ones?

You can have real bullets in the core, so it's not a code change.
If you want them, though, DIY

you can't have pretty transparancy + glowing effects with 3d models.
It's probably a lot of work for things which won't look that good and that will increase processor load quite a lot.

Don't the pew-pew laz0rs fire star wars style "bolts" rather than round sprites?
I haven't seen lasers for almost a year, so I'm not sure anymore.

yes, lasers cannons and longtoms fire 3d models (gt pulse lasers and SW core lasers use 2d sprites though)

Longtoms are 2D now mad, Noir switched them shortly before his disappearance.
But yeah, until we get proper transparency and/or emmissive support, 3D projectiles will not look dull and uninteresting. The exception being massdriver, which was meant to fire a dull, uninteresting physical object.

I dont know, I find a huge dull uninteresting rock pretty interesting when it is coming right at my face at 500 mps.
