OK,

I forgot I had set up ban times for Vets purposely creating new accounts on new computers to circumvent their rank.

QUOTE Veteran Players & New Accounts

Veteran Players* who consistently create new accounts on new computers to hide their true rank/identity. We spend way too much time linking up new accounts. Henceforth they will be banned according to the following:

1st offense: 3 days 2nd offense: 7 days 3rd offense: 30 days 4th offense: 6 months

* Veteran players are determined by MY judgment - BV
This is from the FAQ Enforcement section of the Wiki http://www.freeallegiance.org/FAW/index.php/Enforcement_FAQ

So I have to abide by what I wrote earlier. But I am not backing down from the players purposely trying to circumvent our ranking system.

Juckto/Ratchet's ban has been adjusted to 72 hours per the initial posting.

BTW, telling me what you are NOT going to do usually gets you hammered.

QUOTE 12/30/08 15:30:27: +BlackViper@Zone (Ratchet(0)): Hi, you have one minute to tell me your vet nick or suffer one year ban
12/30/08 15:30:40: +BlackViper@Zone (Ratchet(0)): log off and log in so your accounts are linked
12/30/08 15:30:41: Ratchet(0) (+BlackViper@Zone): juckto
12/30/08 15:30:46: +BlackViper@Zone (Ratchet(0)): link them please
12/30/08 15:30:48: Ratchet(0) (+BlackViper@Zone): but this is only a temp computer
12/30/08 15:30:52: +BlackViper@Zone (Ratchet(0)): link them
12/30/08 15:31:08: Ratchet(0) (+BlackViper@Zone): how about i stop playing alleg instead?
12/30/08 15:31:12: +BlackViper@Zone (Ratchet(0)): up to you
12/30/08 15:31:13: Ratchet(0) (+BlackViper@Zone): cause i aint gonna link this one
That's when I alt-tabbed out and hit the ban button.

What I will be doing is when a player does not respond to an @Alleg or staff members question AND directions, and there is enough in game proof that the player is a vet, a one year ban will be applied until we know the true identity.

Thank you,

BV

How in the world do you determine if someone is a vet or not?

They fly like one. Also, you forgot:
QUOTE 12/31/08 11:31:33: Ratchet(0) (+BlackViper@Zone): can i finish this game?
12/31/08 11:32:05: Ratchet(0) (+BlackViper@Zone): u there? can i finish this game?
ASGS: You have been banned for 1440 minutes
juckto: I'll take that as a "No"
I did not do not want to link this computer to mine as there is a small, but distinct, possibility that Arkof's girlfriend may want to play Allegiance some day.

*If* that happens, TE can always perform an un-link later.

It's always best to comply with admin instructions.

Let me state that again for clarity:

It's always best to comply with admin instructions.

If, by complying with admin instructions, admins have to sort something else out later? They can go do that.

It's not like TE's going to bitch at you if he has to unlink an account later when your reasoning was "BV ordered me to link the accounts".

I remember a "just a (0), now where was I going..." *wtfpwned* moment in that game. ;)

What is it with wanting to play as a 0 anyway? It's no fun on the receiving end. Own up to who you are...

Juckto, instead of replying with a sarcastic comment, why didn't you just explain yourself? Also, Bard is right. Always comply with an administrator's instructions when requested to do so. If you think the administrator is wrong, take it to their supervisor afterwards.

EDIT:
All this could have been avoided if you had simply complied and then PMed why you did it.

I was outraged when I first heard this, because I was looking at it from an admin's point of view but also the player's point of view. If I go to my mother's house and play some Alleg, I sure as @#(! don't want the computer linked to my account. I was outraged at the length of the damn ban. A year initially? Because someone decided to game at someone else's house?

Quite honestly, doesn't it give MORE work for the admins to unlink accounts rather than let vets play as noob hiders TEMPORARILY? I mean the # status doesn't even stick around after a couple of games!
