here it is: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/developer/rules.htm

go rip some cool models for alleg ? /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

It seems that Freelancer(which has cool ship/base models) is from Microsoft Game Studio too and so might fall under these rules now.

Sorry:

QUOTE And by the way, these Rules only cover games published by Microsoft Game Studios and where Microsoft owns the copyright. We can’t give you permission to use games from other publishers or games where Microsoft doesn’t own the IP. Sorry, but you’ll have to contact them for that. Where you see a link to this text on a game’s community website, then you’re good to go.
Freelancer was made by Digital Anvil.

In 2000, Digital Anvil was purchased by Microsoft and then merged with Microsoft Game Studio in 2006.

So basically Microsoft owns all the IP concerning Freelancer.

Although the Freelancer site doesn't hold a link to the Content rules, I guess it's because its old and rather abandoned now so nobody really cared about updating it.

But since

QUOTE these Rules only cover games published by Microsoft Game Studios and where Microsoft owns the copyright
Can we safely assume this cover Freelancer ?

We need a lawyer in here! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

ah this is teh origin /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I also read those "developer rules" and Im a little sceptical about how they always refer to "game videos" in it.
But I wouldnt be too worried, FL is an abandoned M$ game, we modified the @#(! out of it, changed the .exe files etc and never received a notice from MS about anything so.. why not /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I'd love to see some FL models in alleg, and while we're at it, what abould the weapon effects /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

yeah there is a lot of 'content' to take from FL that we could use in Alleg, not only ships and stations. That include weapon effects as well as explosions, backgrounds, planets, etc.

With DX9 almost finished, we could start not only reusing FL artwork 'as is' but also add new features to the Alleg engine such as animations and environmental effects for instance.

But 1st we need to be able to read and convert all FL formats so we can start make them fit into Alleg.
