One stupid Vista update comes and makes my system worse and another comes to fix it. So MS is playing with us. A recent Vista update screwed up by boot time seriously and I am thinking maybe the SP1 will fix it somehow. However, I know that .NET stuff in that package is no good.

So, is there a way to install the SP1 without the .NET update?

Thanks.

No, but there are ways to uninstall it after installing SP1. Ogo will let you know how.

Can you also let me (us) know, please?
I searched the net yesterday for an hour without finding a solution.

Using the clean-up tool doesn't do it.

Thanks

I have the same problem with vista at home, but it is my test installation, I play in XP. I will try to remove it, once I find the time.

OK. Here's something I came across:

Step 1: Create a System Resotre Point ( if you don't know how, google for a walkthrough for this).
Step 2: Install the .NET 3.5 and update it.
Step 3: Install Vista SP1. Now, the installer should notice, that you already have .NET 3.5 and skip installing it's own copy of it.
Step 4: Follow instructions in the pinned topic in this forum and remove .NET 3.5.

NOTE: This solution was not tested by me and I give no guarantee, that it will work. If this happens to fail, use the Restore Point you created in step 1 to roll back any changes you made to the system. Post results here.
