I want to know what kind of tactics the community prefers. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

But... can someone explain how an expansion contributes to a team's defenses? /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Hmm, in my observation, PUGs are played way too defensively. SGs are always extremely offensive. Trading techbases and such is common.

This could be why a fast, brutal, offensive game in PUGs will take the other team completely by surprise and most of the time, win the game for you. But you need pilots who can work together like a well oiled machine to pull that off - AKA squaddies.

grav runs an extremely offensive Dreg opening. Love flying for him.

Most of the time, strategies centered around defense are destined to fail, because then the enemy only has to think about ways to attack you.

If my team is defending, then the enemy are attacking, and therefore their miners are undefended. So, attack.
If my team is attacking, then the enemy are defending, so there will be less defense on their miners. So, attack.

That's how your basic economy-whore's mind works. And every team needs an economy-whore. Hell, they need a dozen.

I'm going to go with ImmZ - even though I've not seen any squad games - and say that an offensive, well-organized team will easily steamroll in a PUG unless the other team is just as competant and organized.

Whatever.

It depends on the factions, the teams, the stack, the forecasted stack, the map, the current situation, the tech available, the number of miners you have, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.

There is no blanket strategy. Thats why this game is good.
