This is my first attempt at skinning. Don't mind the colors, i did it in that color to make flaws stand out. I was quite surprised at the result...
[edit]
This is not high resolution, it is the original artwork.

meh... you stole my texture, it looks like you used exacly the same one! but its not very different from the normal skin tho... just just made it a little more greenish.. you should just delete the old texture and start over from scratch.. thats the only way to learn it. even better: make your own models, unwrap them yourself since only then you know where each part goes and where to paint. but its a good first step and it looks awesome /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

If I could go back and edit the title of this thread to "My first attempt at editing an existing skin", I would, as it is more appropriate. What I have done here has heightened my respect for you and your 'creation' of these skins. I have no comprehension on how to do what you mention above, and it sounds like a daunting task.

Mirror line? Never heard of it....

In this thread it lists the model i used above as a giga ship. (fig17) Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a Belters logo on my ship? I didn't put it there, it was already there... /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

mirror line- most ships have left-right symmetry. I think zapper is saying that there is maybe a noticeable seam because of this.

The logo is an artifact from pre-beta/beta days. The faction names and logo changed a lot during development. There are belter insignia inside the giga garrison green doors and other places as well.

So Giga had the belter raven, and was called 'Crimson' (And still is in ICE)... odd.

One thing, before I attempt to change some of the existing skins, I'd like to figure out how to change a skins resolution to a higher one. Actually, I know how to do that, what I don't know is how to get it all clear looking again. How in the @#$% do you do that without re-doing it completely from scratch? Don't say "unsharp mask" or "sharpen" cuz that hasn't worked for me... /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I thought I recall a folder of all the original artwork in 256 resolution that was pulled from the depths sometime recently..
