When trying to start it up, you get an error message from the .NET CLR: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000007b). Click OK to terminate the application."

I submitted this bug to Microsoft, and received the following response: "Due to a change in CLR, this application is currently not compatible with Vista SP1. We have resolved this bug as external and notified the vendor."

Now, exactly who they notified, I have no clue. However, this probably needs to be on everybody's awareness list before we have a bunch of unhappy players who upgrade to SP1 and can no longer run Allegiance.

Do you run Vista 64-bit?!

You have SP1? Out of personal interest, how is it?

Do you run 64bit? Have you installed .NET 3.5 Beta? 3.5 Beta breaks ASGS and the only solution is to reinstall the OS.

Hi,

Alleg is quite compatibile with Vista. What borked your ASGS install is (most probably) .NET 3.5 Beta or Orcas (which includes .NET 3.5 Beta). Had this problem, only solution found was a system reinstall. Find my thread about that (error code is in the topic) if you want to find out more about my trials with that.

An expression in English, I think primarily US English: "Nice guys finish last" implying that people who are too nice tend to get pooped on by everyone else.

It's presmably a reference to the nick of the poster of this thread.
