The Devteam has rolled out the latest community release of the game, R4. Due to some unforseen complications, some players are experiencing difficulties in updating to this version.
If you are downloading the game for the first time:
After creating a new gameplay account,
1) Make sure you have the latest VC++ runtimes.
2) Download the setup file as usual
3) Download this archive and unzip it's contents to the directory in which you installed Alleg to. This prevents complications with the ASGS update, particularly for Vista users.
4) Use your callsign and password to log into ASGS. At this point, ASGS will tell you that certain files have invalid signatures and they need to be updated. Let it do this.
5) After all the files have been updated, you'll get into the game and the in-game AutoUpdate will download the final piece of the puzzle.
Be aware that the installer WILL be updated sometime in the near future and this entire block above will be come unnecessary.
If you have an existing install, ASGS should do everything for you. If you have problems :
1) Make sure you have the latest VC++ runtimes.
2) Uninstall any UI mods you have (CortUI/madpeopleUI/etc.)
3) If you had the Beta installed, remove the dev folder from the artwork folder in the directory to which you've installed Allegiance.
4) Download this archive and unzip it's contents to the directory in which you installed Alleg to. This prevents complications with the ASGS update, particularly for Vista users.
5) Log into ASGS like normal and let the game AutoUpdate as usual.
No UI mods are currently compatible to R4. The authors will need to post new versions for R4.
If none of these steps solve your problems, read the R4 Issues sticky in the Helpline. It will be periodically updated.
