I know you can change the bmp.mdl to a text file to have a different image type for the skin - but does Alleg support animated GIFs?

it supports some animation already by sticking all the frames next to each other one after another.(e.g. in this post)

don't know about animated gif s though, with the thing they are using (freeimage.dll) it should be able to load them, but what it will do with them is another question

Bump because it would be nice to know.

I would say that it is highly unlikely that GIFs are supported. The programmers would have had to build in support for that by hand.

Some Allegiance meshes are animated, but I don't think the engine supports mesh animations, and certainly the game itself doesn't. It looks like some of the meshes animations may have originally been intended for launch sequences.. wings unfolding, etc.
