You might have switched off Norton's AV. If you happen to have one of those All-in-one suits, it'll have a firewall on its own. Its very finicky, so you'll have to either find a way to add Alleg to it's exceptions list, disable it, or remove it entirely.

Also, if you recently installed the Java Runtime, try uninstalling it and checking.

Hell, you're lucky. I can't even get ASGS to run properly in Vista 64-bit. Are you using the 32-bit or 64-bit version?

I take it all you're using is Windows built-in firewall? Nothing else? You mentioned Symantec, but which program (Anti-virus, Internet Security, etc.)? As ImmortalZ mentioned, there may be something there that's not completely disabled.

Pook has fixed my ASGS problem. However, I am experiencing the same EXACT issue as zulukiwi. I am not running a firewall or any active virus scanner. Secondly, Windows Defender is turned off as well. I can connect to the lobby, but I am unable to join any games.

I've never installed Java runtime (websites regularly ask me if I want to).

Secondly I have a version of Norton that came with m PC, I'll probably dump it when the free subscription is over. It's antivirus and internet security. I went through task manager and removed all instances of it that I could see - is that enough? Or could it be embedded in Interet Explorer?

I've running 32 bit Vista.

Firewalls will always install a device driver into the TCP/IP stack to do its work. Removing the process does not remove the firewall. In some instances (ZoneAlarm), even uninstalling it doesn't remove every trace of it.

I played with this on a clean install of Vista Business (32 bit) last night for around 2 hours.

No matter what adjustments I made Allegiance would not connect to any server. Sounds like Allegiance doesn't like Vista.

Seems like I have to get hold of a copy of vista for the helpline in the near future. Damn shame I don't have the money for the OS, so it will be more like distant future... :( So far you, Pook, are the only helpline person with Vista installed... Do you feel the pressure? /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Nope.

ASGS works - it's Alleg that doesn't.

Dogbones - you feel the pressure?
