I don't know if any of u already knows
Xfire, but
the mpogd thing reminded me that it's some time that I'm trying, with others, to get free allegiance officially supported by
Xfire.
In particular it'll be useful to bump frequently
this thread, to make it noticeable and get the attention of Xfire's dev team.
By getting officially supported we'll get their system to track our hours of game, and other features provided by that program, but the most important thing is
the indirect advertising we get from that.
As you see in my sig (I hope i didn't break any rule), you can embed a mini-profile in any forum/site you want, and there are different sizes/styles for that miniprofile, too.
Showing a lot of hours in Allegiance will advertise it in every forum we post in, if we decided to put the miniprofile in the sig.
AND we couldn't be accused of advertising because it's not an official ad, and there's nothing wrong with playing a lot allegiance and showing it to everyone.
I have already found
a way to make Xfire recognize when I'm playing allegiance but it won't be visible in miniprofiles unless they officially support it, so it's only for my personal use.
I'm sorry if I made something wrong posting this, i hope not /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> .

Myself and numerous other people have contacted xfire in regards to getting it to support Allegiance officially. Unfortunately to no avail......

The only way i heard games succeded to be supported is being on top of the new games forums for some time.
Excluding corruption of course /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
As you see in the thread i bumped several times and occasionally bump again but the fact is that they probably check out how many users bump, apart from the visibility of the game.
In 2007 it has been only me, not encouraging..

Ahh, Xfire, another very popular, somewhat useless program that I don't like for excessive network traffic, and sheer pointlessness.
We already have an easily accessable list of players online at any given time.. the only thing is, it doesn't need to be installed on your computer, run upon startup, and doesn't give popups whenever someone logs on. Or annoying sounds, for those with silent interfaces.

I may agreee or not with you but it's not a matter of liking Xfire or not, i'm not advertising xfire here nor debating if it's a good program or it's useless.
I'm merely saying that if this game will be supported we'll get some free advertising.
And anyway, i don't agree with you /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Steam(s**ks) often deletes my favourite servers' list and xfire is a good replacement.
AND i don't need all those games icons on my desktop anymore as i can launch games from Xfire.
I find it rather useful, instead.
Anyway, de gustibus non disputandum est.

I think xfire is a decent program, I may join you in this. However we have our own "who's online" list and such like.

Jjb, I agree. Steam is worse than Xfire. ;-)
As for using xfire to replace shortcuts, congratulations. You want a cookie? I likey my folders.
But okay, using Xfire to advertise could work.. how many non-commercial products does Xfire support? I am opposed to non-fan driven advertisments for Allegiance, as Allegience isn't an easily accessable game. The greatest asset is the experienced, pain-in-the-ass, fabulously irritating, yet utterly dedicated fanbase of Allegiance. How would we get that across via Xfire?
Plus, ASGS must be considered. Nay, it must be required.

i get your ideas.
as for ASGS there is a way to get only allegiance.exe detected but "launch" ASGS.. anyway, as long as nobody is really interested, i'll drop the subject.
It was just an idea, anyway, nothing else.
Cya, maybe if i get enough time i'll adhere to @cadet, and occasionally i watch the boards anyway /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Give ASGS a buddy list, and the ability to minimize to tray. Oh, and connect to that newfangled lobby chat. This will obviate the need to put Alleg in XFire.
(no, I don't think they'll go for ASGS sigs)
