Some things I'd like to address with Effix, this would make them a little bit more playable.

Warlords could use a better turn rate. That thing is harder to maneouver (sp?) than a freakin Battleship. If Effix gets bombed early (by say Rix) with a base mid-ranged from the aleph (3-5k). Uneyed, basically unprecendented in nature, it'll take something short of a miracle to keep that base alive. Launching ~6 warlords, then trying to turn them to blow away a nanned bomber, well the base is toast already. I know that is the fault of the defenders for not probing prior, but a little perk to them wouldn't be too bad would it?

Along the same lines, I was thinking about making the warlords GS-like in a sense, with a higher price tag. Say around 250. Better agility, etc. And then make the Heavy Warlords available for purchase once you get an exp(and up it). So they get more agile, faster, in turn for a bigger price tag. This easily makes effix more prominent in the early game, were it may fall prey to IC escort figs, Rix figs, and all other small, fast craft.

As it stands the warlord is an "early-notice, set the camp" ship. I feel it should be more of a heavy calvary sort of back up. To make an analogy out of this, similar to the police responding to a threat. You got your regular Cops, then Warlords would be like a SWAT team, in a sense. Slower to respond, but packing force.

Next time *cough* you post, watch out you *cough* don't raise a huge amount of dust.

I think it's just an early alpha of Effix, I wouldn't call them playable at this point. Still, I like the concept.
n.b. I may not see a forum post replied to me or a pm sent to me for weeks and weeks...

I'm sorta torn on the warlords, personally. They just don't feel right. We'll have to try various things, I suppose.

Actually.... I sorta think that swapping them imrecs for the standard MRM version would be a good thing. Maybe as a tradeoff for a bit of handling?

well... i guess... but quad fire would just look so cool... or a more rapid fire varient of the IMREC...

a "scatter" missle might be cool too, if not a bit overpowered cool.gif

They need to stay bricks - LRM IR is still reasonably effective without a lock, and warlords are hardly vulnerable as-is unless alone. Give it manuverability, even at the cost of MRM IR, and there goes the only effective way for figs and ints to deal with them. Besides, LRM IR was the entire point of warlords - give it manuverability, and it's a superfig.

If you want the heavy cavalry, get a wave of ints to sweep the enemy aside.

Well even only a slight increase in it's turn rate would be nice. For a medium sized craft, it shouldn't need to handle like a cap-ship
