Most related to Vet on Newbie server. I never knew there was this much people that try to enter the newbie server when vet. I post to let others know =]

Hagman, Mjol, kalix, CaptainNeutron?

I recognize 3 of those names, who undoubtedly should have known better, but the rest are probably newbs/voobs returning to the game.

I'm wondering if we're hurting the populace with ASGS autobanning on the newbie server.

I think we should give a 0min ban first with a warning stating that you will be banned for 24hours the next time you try to join this server.

once they've had the warning, then they can get banned for a day if they join the newbie server as they should know from before they are not allowed there.

we could also have an asgs poll, or perhaps message sent to everyone and any new accounts that if their rank is higher than newbie(4) or whatever it is, and you have lost the (#) at the end of your name that you will get banned automatically for playing on the newbie server.

p.s.the reason i made it 10 mins is so they have time to figure out "why the %$"£ did allegiance just close?" .. *restarts allegiance and loggs into newbie server again* .. "weird, allegiance just closed"

I brought up the fact that I think a ban for a whole day is kinda extreme when you consider if you spam, or bypass the swear filter you get a ban of 15 minutes which im my opinion is worse.

The response I got was, "its better to have it set to 24 hours rather than have a thread which is 1000 posts long bitching about vets on the newbie server"

I still stand by wot i said before, One day ban is far too harsh.

Well, I agree a day is a long time... though given that, vets are still not aware enough to stay off the Newbie server.

This happend to me too, with the previous ELO reset.
I ended up with a way higher rank than I really was, getting the day bad was quite a surprise.
However after disscusion in the CDT forums BV asked Pook to hard code in something, so that you couldnt even get on the server without a newb tag.
Obviously this isnt working now, perhaps it just needs to be reactivated.?

it works, the noobs just set the difficulty to "any" and go around something set up for their own protection. noobs.

As for my appearance on that list, I knew ahead of time (and said as much to several visitors during the 3v1 game who asked wtf I was doing there) that I was setting up for 24hr banhammer. I needed preventitive measuers to get some stuff done since school is about to start up again. 24hrs is prolly harsh but it is a good deterrent and when I went to take a screenshot of my ban I too was shocked by the quantity of noob server violations...

That being said, perhaps several of these individuals, like me, were looking to whore noobs and go on a break? I think 24hrs is ok for this violation bc it is far easier to avoid than swearing or some of the other 'heat of the moment' 15min violations.

That's true, setting the skill level to Novice will prevent others from joining the server.
