Yeah, i think that the key you're pressing when you get in base gets spammed while you're in it, and while you go out....
Many a times i've found myself going sideways when i come out of base (lol) or boosting. I know it gets fixed just by pressing Esc twice and i will seem lazy just for pointing this out, but hey... im trying to improve the game, even if it is one nuisance at a time.

Also, i can't help but wonder how many enemy bbr runs have been more successful that they shoulld've been because any one of you suddenly found that the bomber seems to be sidethrusting pretty quickly away from you even when you hit boosters so you can't get in minigun range in time... adn then you realize this bug was in effect.

Ummmmm cant you also hit the key that controls whatever is going wrong? Like if youre boosting, just tap your boost key.

lotta times it doesnt work for me.
anyway that's no problem... boost is visible... sidethrust is a bigger issue, much more subtle
i'll stop my whining now, kthxbye

Known issue, we had a possible fix, tried it in beta, the fix had 'side effects' (no pun intended). We'll give it another go, we just need to clear all keys on launch, but that is easier said than done given the event handler we have to work with.

I just make sure I have no keys pressed (or booster engaged) as I enter the hanger, but sometimes, in a furball with a sliver of hull left, a high kb, and an int on your tail, you might not want to let up on the booster until you are actually in the base /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> <esc> <esc> clears the problem (as already pointed out).

how does <esc> <esc> clear the keys?

why not just do whatever esc esc does to clear the keys, immediately after launch.

ok, its not elegant and is a workaround rather than a fix

Because that is a kludge and it would likely have the esc menu pop up and close every time you launch, possibly also taking keyboard focus. There would also likely be a huge outcry from all of those that cry fowl when we take away even a smidgen of control during launch.

This one is likely not that hard to fix just needs to get high enough on one of the devs lists to dig through and fix it. Like I said we already tried once /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

this affects auto pilot of course, and that is a big problem. back when I didn't know this would happen, I boosted into a base, switched to a scout (that had no booster) and left, but the AP would not work.. I tried every control, and didn't realise that although I had no booster, it was still acting like I was holding down the key.

I died because of this :(

i didn't mean make it press esc twice when you launch

i meant pressing esc clears your pressed keys,

figure out how pressing esc clears the keys, use the same sort of procedure to clear keys at launch, or even just after you dock so they are cleared for when you launch

the bug can also be cleared by thrusting in two directions. for example, if you enter base with the left thruster on and it sticks, thrusting left and right simultaneously will return to normal flight...an ugly hack of a fix might involve firing all six thrusters for a split-second instantly upon launch

9 of them

up
down
left
right
forward
backwards
roll left
roll right
booster

my ugly hack is prettier than your ugly hack /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
