OK, so, Alleg will not be around forever. People will slowly leave, and the community will dwindle until eventually there just aren't enough people playing to get a game going. It WILL end, as all things do, but what year do you predict?

I think with the FAZ well underway and being released at even intervals, the longevity of Alleg has been dramatically increased. Had it not been for Solap getting you programmers the source code, I'm fairly sure our community here would be about half the size. FAZ has paved the way for a LOT of needed improvements and enhancements that were often promised, but are actually finally here.

So, anyway, my prediction is...

2014

That's right, 2014. A little over 7 years from today. I think that Alleg will be around for a lot longer, as this community has stuck with it for 7 years, so, what's another 7?

After that, however, I think the age of the game compounded by people moving on with their lives and finding new ways to use their freetime will eventually result in Allegiance ending. It will happen, it's just a matter of time. I myself will play consistantly for a month at a time, then I lose interest for several months. Then I'll come back... but each time, it takes longer and longer to come back. Eventually, I just won't come back again. Same thing will happen with each of you, it will just take time. So, anyway, I'm rambling. PREDICT! NOW! OR TEH BACON RAGE!!

2029-36, the aprox time all life on Earth will also be taken care of by Apophis.

If we're lucky, it'll only get 'this' close...

The link you gave says, "The odds of a collision in 2036 are about 1-in-10,000". Methinks you're not an optimist, eh, jg? /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I prefer not to think that way. There were times when I used to login and wouldnt see anyone on and go "This game is dead". Then I would come back some Sunday and see a few people playing. I smile.

I predict that there will always be an allegiance server running, some crazy Korean will setup a server for every known game so they can farm credits and sell them on ebay. These computers will continue to run on atomic backup even after all life on earth is destroyed by Bruce Willis.

Elephanthead is probably right regarding Allegiance.

PS - That asteroid won't come near us. Bruce Willis... bah. You need a real badass. Culmination has already saved us. Outer space exists because its afraid to be on the same planet with him.
