This might be beyond your knowledge but I thought I'd give it a try.
If you can't fix it it's no prob.
Anyway, My microphone doesn't seem to be working anymore, when I say microphone I mean the actual hardware plugin seems to be messed, because none of my 5 mics work, most of them worked before.
What happens is:
A- no sound
B- I hear a VERY strange noise, it sounds like a large fan on a low speed setting getting louder and faster every beat, this REALLY creeps me out.
The device manager says it is "Legacy Audio drivers" and other headings with Legacy audio.

This is the same laptop that I have always used on here and still use.

all other system stats are gewd.
But if you guys have any idea of what to do, it would be helpful. I don't expect a solution.

Sounds like the plug on your laptop has the ground disconnected or maybe a cold solder joint. If you know how to try wireing the mic ground to another place and see if that works.

Maybe something happened to your sound driver?
I would think at least Realtek AC'97 Audio should be listed in device manager.
You could try reinstalling it

Or maybe your microphone jack isn't working.

That sound you describe sounds like a ground loop. I'm thinking the ground pin of your mic jack has gotten disconnected.

make sure the actual mic fits CORRECTLY in the jack
i had this problem... i accidentaly yanked the wire and it slightly came out... still recorded but only the strange fan noise... just fix the jack or something

Another strange thing, ozzy and inc. got pissed at me on ts.
Apparently If I hit the button to talk and music is playing on my comp (No mic is plugged in) then its like I am playing music over ts. /ninja.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ninja:" border="0" alt="ninja.gif" /> /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":unsure:" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Start -> Run
Open: Sndvol32.exe
OK
Options->Properties
You need to select
Adjust volume for recording. You may need to select a different mixer device at the top if you aren't able to pick that.
Check all the things on the list and click ok. Then "Select" Microphone, Mic-In, or whatever it's called on your computer and make sure the slider for it is up and every other slider is all the way down/muted.
Problem solved.
