As you all know, the devteam is hard at work preparing the 3rd release of the Free Allegiance Zone.

A couple of proposed changes will require an update to some of the files that design Allegiance's user interface. In doing so, this update will overwrite any customizations you have made and replace them with the "default" user interface. This means anyone with CortUI or SlipstreamUI or any other personalized modifications will be erased from your installations. Unfortunately there is no way around this. After the defaults are restored, you will be able to re-install CortUI to regain the features that were overwritten.

This situation made us wonder: How many of you use CortUI or other customizations? If most of you use these customizations, why don't we just make them "default" in the first place?

And that's where this poll come in.

I've listed the most notable features available in CortUI and I ask you all to vote on whether or not you would like CortUI's features to become the new "default." Since I can't post all of the features as individual poll questions, Please reply to this thread if you would like to offer input to help the devteam decide which features are declared "default" and which ones are left out to be installed with a separate installer.

When the poll is closed, the devteam will take all of the most-requested-features and include them with the "defaults" that will overwrite your customizations. Any CortUI features that are not chosen as the new "defaults" will be available by re-installing CortUI after FAZ R3 goes live.

Thanks to everyone in advance for voiceing your opinion on this. I ask that all commentary that follows remain constructive.

The following is a list of some of the changes made by CortUI.
Simple changes like "The ripcord timer is now shown in sector view" are not listed because they don't change the UI as much as they relay the same info on either screen. Only the non-trivial changes are listed.

For a full listing of CortUI's changes, please see his release notes.

EDIT: Jess, I use that modified ship loadout screen too, but it has weird quirks (unscrollable chat, non-updating minimap) which could confuse new users so I thought it best to suggest that one optional.

I agree with your selections Tiger; I would leave in the modified ship loadout screen, but that's a minor issue.

I agree with Jes, I've had 'good luck' with the minimap (I never hit F7, ever). But it is simple enough to add again after an AU.

I said I wasnt going to post here again, but I'm not going to sit idle while people mess with my HUD. If you insist on changing things for the reason of 'just because', make an uninstaller for this freakin mod. I won't waste my time making one.

I don't use CortUI or any special interface. If I recall correctly the reason I don't use CortUI was because some of the menu's popping up looked ackward and a few of the features I like to use were removed. The extra chat lines are nice. As long as nothing is removed from the Interface I will be just fine with it.

I use Cort's UI. However, I have no problem with the idea of having to re-install it. Why make more work for the devs and the support team? Now if you wanted to do a complete overhaul - to make it look updated from the original, then that's another story. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

I guess the default loadout can be placed slightly less far away if some players do use it, just far enough so that it's not hit by accident...

Doesn't CortUI allow you to enable/disable some of its features? (I don't use it...)

If so then is it possible to add all the functionality in and just have the option to disable/enable the ones you want?
