The race thread kinda changed into a competition thread and then viscur asked if we saw a potential for olympics.

I think that we could make the squads send players in every competition.

here's what I remember that was getting discussed:

-Races( like on racecore)

-Soccer
2 teams, eachs try to ram a "ball" in their opponent net(aleph).

-Drone shooting:
From what I understood, we put someone in a sector. We make him use an aleph and start a timer. We count how long it takes the player to kill all the drones. The one who comes back the fastest wins.

-Ramming contest: Like a race, but a ship/ball must be rammed as fast as possible.

My ideas(I'll be more technical):

Sniping:
We make a ship with 1 long range gun. The idea is to shoot a moving drone from a long distance.
To make things fair: The ship cannot thrust. To get into the contest sector, it rips to a teleport. We put 2 teleports for the drones, covered by a rock(to make sure that they cannot be killed before someone order them to move.).
rules could be like: we count how many drones a player killed before missing 3. The one who killed the most wins.

Deathmatch:
I think that real deathmatches are boring for many reasons(base camping being the most important).
here's what I suggest:
-We use 1 live per player
-We make pods much stronger
-When the pod of a player is picked up, this player is allowed to come back.
-We make a contest sector. no one is allowed to leave it(Unless a pod is picked up). This sector would have no bases.
-Ships would be energy based since there would be no reloads.
The team that survives wins.

Hide and seek:
-A player with a low sig ship tries to hide as another player tries to find him.
The seeker could have special probes. To win, the seeker would have to destroy the "hider", but the hider would not be able to defend himself.

Tag: we could make a ship with an aoe weapon. To win, he would have to destroy another player(which would be destroyed in 1 hit).

Base defense:
a team tries to destroy a base and the other tries to defend it.
We put a bunch of teleports that the attackers can use.
The attacking ships cannot move, but they can ripcord fast.
The attackers can only use missiles.
Defending ships are imune to these missiles.
The attackers loses if they run out of missiles and they win if they destroy the base.
Technical question: What determines where a ship rips? is it always up, or does it have anything to do with the orientation of the teleport?

Capture the flag:
With a mod, I think that it could be interesting. We could make ships that are fast, but got no weapons. We could make some slow but powerfull. The problem with current ctf is that belters sfs and ints(all factions) are clearly the only ships anyone should use. With a mod, we could promote teamwork and I would like to see the results.

I'll edit for more when I get more ideas

Also, could do a team rabbit game.

Objective: be the rabbit as long as possible

First person to get a kill becomes the rabbit
then the rabbit runs around the same sector like a crazed goon (cant dock).
Next person to kill the rabbit becomes said rabbit.

Make it a timed 20 min match, and your good to go.

Just a funny idea, make teams with 1 vet and a couple of noobs and battle the other team.

Extra points if the vet stays cool /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":lol:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I'd enjoy the Stealth competition for SF-lovas like me. Sounds good, make a post in the Misc Events forum!
