Ah well, things work out eventually, I'm sure there'll be a ton of fun. Everything diverges, one day in the distant future someone will look at DN and say "that's kewl, but let's try this" then you've got a DN± core and it diverges. Life is never boring. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I banned you! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
Ok maybe not. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
Sadly not everyone can get on the FTX servers, most can though. I'm still working at making them more accessible, but it's a combination of routers and less latency, the first is fixable the last is expensive ($1k a year). /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Damn it, I messed up on the screen caps, and that pisses me off. /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
Ah well.
So last night about 8 of us went to the FTX EoR 6a server to have a little fun checking out Effix. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Started off looking at the chunky bases and skips, they really should like pigs and boars as they definately flew like it. Effix miners can drop off at any of your bases which is really handy to keep mining moving, this is the only faction where miner defence basically means getting to the miner eventually as they can take quite a beating and are slow pigs- but boy oh boy when they offload the money comes rolling in more than any other.
Of course we wanted to see caps, and had to get it down fast as the excitemenet was too much.
You can get an Effix sy at game start for 10k, comes with a nice free ship researched (I think 6k to buy) which I think was supposed to be reserved for the sowjet faction. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
Anyway, it's a great little ship that is fun to watch kill things. The corvette seemed like a nice support ship for 12.5k to research (only 250$ to buy, basically a 2 turret auxilliary fire support capship). Now let's get straight to the dreadnaught, something like 60k to research and 25k for the ship...
I launch with a gunner... I make a slow (5 minute turn) to get towards the aleph, unfortunately, I get stuck between a rock and a hardplace (the hardplace being my sy). So here I am in a 25k ship, stuck, unable to move between a rock and my sy- Moses, bless his heart grabs and int, and proceeds to spend the next 10 minutes ramming the dreadnaught to move it the fraction of an inch it needs to become unstuck. Meanwhile I'm DYING of laughter omg, you guys have no idea how funny it is to see Moses spend 10 minutes ramming my ass- it was quite perverted and we loved it. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
Finally ok, we get unstuck. Moses spends the next 15 minutes ramming my arse to get me up to a top speed of 25 mps, and we barely fit through the aleph and the blowing things up phase commences.
You can boy one of these bad boys and park it in front of an aleph and nothing will make it through, they'll ram you and explode- if they somehow don't die, the massive turrets will blow the crap out of you or you can drop smart bombs to deal with the gnats.
One important thing though, if you do buy one, best tactic is to con push a tele into the enemy sector and protect it for 50 seconds while you rip in, as this is the ultimate sunday driving ship. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
Overall it's quite fun faction, but it's very different from most, which is a good thing. The main ships are more or less pretty standard ints/ftrs/scts/bbrs all that fun stuff is fairly typical. There's also a Warlord ship which turns like a pig (quelle supris) but packs a lot of firepower, it can also be upgraded to a Heavy Warlord, buying these guys is $100, they are pretty much good for defence only although if you had enough of them (to keep the enemy from getting behind you- they turn like pigs remember) then you could prolly use them for whorage. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
I do think the Effix needs a special Capship tender for free in sy, this will allow them to move the capships a bit better, I think it'll make the faction even more intersting. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Bax, you might want to check out the other factions' shipyards as well. The new missile frigate (with the missile battery, flak battery and all) is there for everyone (but rix, who get a pod frigate instead).... Effix SY is pretty standard actually, it just has a Dreadnaught instead of both the battleship and the fleet carrier (since it combines their functionality).
Dreadnaughts don't need research at all, they're automatically available upon upgrading the SY. Parking it in front of the aleph doesn't sounds like such a hot idea to me (aleph res).
Also, Effix teles are an offload point /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
(yes, the warlord is a missile boat, good for D and not much else... but boy does it own at bomber D)
