Catch-all for all development not having a specific forum.

This is a WIP (although I've done my part I think). However it's not a deal breaker as the installer just points at this page so it can be kept current and updated even after the installer has gone live.
pkk wrote:QUOTE (pkk @ Nov 16 2010, 09:48 PM) Giving installer a version number. (this is pretty easy)
I guess this is a TE/TB job. Please link to the thread in Admin Requests asking for this as I can't seem to find it. If you don't have access to Admin Requests let me know and I'll ask for you to get it because, clearly TE can't read every thread in every forum but he is diligent about ARs.
pkk wrote:QUOTE (pkk @ Nov 16 2010, 09:48 PM) Keep support of additional DLCs?
Like texture packs, custom keymaps, whatever. Where to host them?
Not my call but I'd think that a link in the readme page of the wiki to Mesial's site and/or other systems would be the way to go at the moment. Maybe including modulus into the installer once it's ready would be a longer term solution to this.

Although you don't need a server admin to place a number on an installer, I'll gladly bless it with my number-creating prowess.
(It's my strongest skill aside from hunting, sleeping, eating, and pouncing)

Seems the last installer's name was "allegsetup258.exe"

I now declare this installer to be named "allegsetup259.exe" !!!

But PKK, if you'd prefer a round number you can jump up to "allegsetup260.exe"

Is the installer done? I've been waiting for the "OK it's done TE, update it" PM in my inbox. (or a similar AdminReq)
If it's done, I can reset the roundrobin at getsetup.alleg.net and post some news for all the mirrors to update themselves.

I've said it before but I'll say it again: thanks, PKK, for doing this!

--TE
(PS: about additional content, it can be hosted on our forum server, ASGS server, mesial's site, or anywhere else you want it. If you need a DNS entry made, just ask)

And I were waiting for a "make it so" or a request to add/drop a feature from the ZLs. All I got is "nice work", "not my decision" or "talk to TE".

No no no no - don't thank me. PKK is doing this work.
My contribution was "allegsetup259.exe" (ie: nothing)

About the outstanding ZL request, I just checked the ZL forum and the only topic in there about the new installer mentioned the readme.txt. There was no discussion about any other points about it.

What is outstanding? I'll search/bump the appropriate topic for the ZLs or create the topic as necessary.

I'm putting on the 'project manager hat' for one minute.
The installer works, is tested and still works. Release it now.

Feature freeze until released.
Write the readme later. If required use a link to freeallegiance.org, or to the techzone-subforum.
Add high res stuff + other features later.
Add ... later.

The intentions was to create an installer which allows ppl to install allegiance, and all stuff allegiance relies on, without bigger problems. I would say your work is done. This installer is 'as is' much better than the old one.

I also want to say that this is great work!

<whine> I think it should be named "allegsetupPKK.exe or allegsetupPKKr6.exe" </whine>

I am glad to see pkk salvaged something from all the hard work Imago (and I -- but I don't think the mirror support was put in) did. Installer works well.

So I think PKK abandoned it :(

Anyone got a mirror, my compy crashed and had to do a backup so I am Allegianceless and the installer was pretty good.
