make the hitbox precise on a ship that can out accelerate anything else, and a good pilot will not expose himself to a broadside, he should not be podded unless chased by multiples
look at "any" ms dev small ship model and tell me how it is mapped out, any body whining about those? nope.
new TF int
If all ships are roughly lentil shaped, then the MS style hitboxes are no problem. The reason for this is that in those shapes the MS style hitbox actually is pretty close to the actual shape.

So much passion here (aka name calling, debate, calls of "noob") - Just a general comment from me
Alleg is fun.. and many of us have been playing it "as is" for a long time now. CC has made some great changes to make the game balanced and innovative. New models are fine I guess but I like a lot of the current models "as is". I'd rather see more new factions like OH which is great (thanks weedy).

Will not be more factions unless we get rid of a current one.
Glad you enjoy the changes though

I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

My apologies.
I have to give applauds to the CC team as well. I hardly ever remember to dish out enough praise, but I think Allegiance is better than ever thanks to the CC project (and of course people working on the improved graphics and new releases).

This is very true, but I also find no need to change the hitboxes. In my mind, the only major standouts are the Rix fig, the IC fig, and the Dreg int. The Dreg int feels magneticaclly attracted to bullets from head on and behind because while it has these nice, thin fans it turns out that the space between these fans is the hitbox as well. Rix has a slightly larger hitbox than you would anticipate, but the weird part is the center of the hitbox isn't, you know, the center of what you see. I get that after time playing people will realize that, but this information isn't found in Cadet at all and no one ever talks about it in game, so unless you managed to find out that you need to be aiming low on rix figs, people will not aim low on rix figs. The IC fig could probably just use a scale reduction, or maybe we think it's fine as is, I don't care.Adept wrote:QUOTE (Adept @ May 22 2010, 04:18 AM) If all ships are roughly lentil shaped, then the MS style hitboxes are no problem. My point: I think that going from here forward, the CC team should go with form-fitting hulls. It makes so much more sense to have what you see = hitbox, and I think it'll be better for the game in the long run.

Don't find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain.

i noticed the tf int is not centered on 0,0,0 xyz, and it is not the only one
0,0,0 is what the green targeting reticule tells you to shoot at, it does not adjust itself to models that are not centered, for instance if I made a model that was centered at 20,0,0 nobody could hit it using the green reticule

open that in milkshape and you see what i mean, i made the cvh for the 4 ships, it needs exportation to mdl if you want to use it

To clarify for those of you without Milkshape, the reticle will tell you to hit the tail of the TF int, rather than the more ideal spot slightly forward of there. It won't tell you to hit empty space like on the IC Sup.
