It is quite possible I am just adding too much nostalgic value to the past. Although I know the victory in such a game much feel extra sweet to the victorious commander. Although the best game I ever played was the one I referenced, the biggest "high" I felt playing Allegiance was when ACE knocked off XT under my command to end their streak. I have yet to achieve that level of enjoyment out of any other video game -- and its that type of game that keeps me coming back for more and more in hopes of repeating the feeling.
Enjoy your "high" guys, and hopefully we can continue this high quality allegiance for a few more years.

I remember that game so well Para, but it wasn't the one that broke the SysX streak. That game was XT Bios (Nak) vs SysX Dreg (Grey) on Star. Right after it ended I went to another server and music was berating his commander in a PUG saying that there is no way that Bios can beat Dreg on Star. Grey said "I know some people who would argue with you music" lol.Paradigm2 wrote:QUOTE (Paradigm2 @ Apr 19 2010, 10:57 PM) For those who remember and participated in both, how does this game compare to the SysX v. XT game a very long time ago where XT ended SysX's streak of wins (this was before XT's even longer streak of wins)
For a refresher, what I remember from that game was that it was IC v. IC on Star: Grey v. ??? (Nak? Night?). In that game, SysX and XT both had hvy ints, but SysX opted for SBs while XT went for HTT.
SysX had the econ advantage and had just finished SBs when XT went all out on an HTT run for our only expansion. They were successful despite one of the best furballs I've ever been associated with, and went on to win the game.
That was the best game I ever played in Allegiance, back when both teams would fly int packs of 10-12 within 500m all striking at the exact same moment.... Just watching the FRAPs weed has, it looks like this may have been close. To be honest, I thought there was no way that squads would ever be that highly skilled and evenly matched after that game ever again.
Kudos to both sides!
The IC v IC game that you mentioned was one of the few that really sticks in my memory. It was probably a direct result of the closeness of our recent games. I think both squads were leary of trying anything other than IC exp because they knew it was on.
Both teams found mini 2, and unknown to the other ran it 10 k out of sector and dropped it without docking so that the other wouldn't get it. That was probably the bloodiest game I have played in, just two exp teams with no real advantage over each other repeatedly butting heads. We knew you must have had SB's although we hadn't seen them, and I remember Kummy telling everyone just to ram the @#(! out of his HTT. I found nan 2 seconds before he launched and he held on for half a minute for me to dock it.
I was playing my best Allegiance during this period, and the game absolutely kicked ass for me. I'm pretty sure that if that balls to the wall HTT run had failed on your exp, the game was SystemX's.
Grey said afterwards "GG It's nice to give absolutely everything you can in a game once in a while". I knew exactly what he meant, it was an absolute joy of a game to play in and probably the best game that I ever participated in.
Not taking anything from this game, the limited amount I saw was incredible, but I had to keep dodging in and out and never really settled in to play because of RL.
I'm glad somebody else remembers that IC IC slugfest though, I was starting to think that my memory was playing tricks on me.
Good times.

It isn't cockiness. The game was an absolute pitched battle.
Everybody knows where SysX are in the food chain around here.
