Interesting. Be appears to have a massive private network which is more than well connected. You traverse the exact same route post-UK and get a clear signal. The plot thickens.

btw solap issues are not between 1400 - 1630 gmt ...
they are reoccurring (here at least) from 1200 - 1900 gmt.
Always within these hours.

As side note, it might seem unimportant, but effectively Solap is pushing people away from alleg.
Just tried to make an semi-old vet return, he couldn't connect to Solap, therefor he forfeited.

if you could provide some evidence in the form of traceroutes from the affected time. That would be good.

I finally noticed your bat file  (oops)
will run it for as long as possible and em it to SolapTraces@yahoo.com.
Edit, my miscalculation from local time to GMT conversion , the problem time is 1100 GMT -> 1800 GMT;
at 6:17pm Monday (GMT) - Time in GMT, Solap was playable again.

Kudos, for all the job done by you, MrC and anyone else on the alleg team.

I am still curios, why was Solap created in 1st place. I am sure there are good reasons for that, just curios .

Better gameplay between American and European players I think Trax, which it usually gives me (Euro).

And it's less prone to crashing than Planet (I believe, although I have no hard facts). Also TAG runs as a service, which Aarm understandably doesn't want to do on his box.

Ah, well all of those are nice intentions, but what are the real effects of Solap ?
I mean anytime, I join mid day to stare helplessly from the lobby, I see ~ 1 - 2 other random, victims of the improved gameplay quality that Solap alllows.

And what when this is a newbie ? Which can't connect to the game for unidentifiable reasons for some huge chunk of the day ?

Or if ti is a vet who has been absent for months ? Try to return once, bang solap-happy hour*, try twice, bang solap-happy-1/3d-of-the-24hours hour ...
"Ah why bother returning to this game, seems that new server which hosts the Mains now is incompatible with me ..."

Those comments above are based on real cases and communication between me, 1 returning vet and 2 separate (0)-(1)s ...

With all the respect for the great reasons behind the installation of Solap, but it has actually a negative effect on the community size.

According to my text, log file by Notj's script, the problem actually persist from ~ 10:23am to ~ 9:00 pm my local time. Or at least for 11 hours.

re-posting this, as it is easy to miss in this thread:
QUOTE General Directions

Steps:

0. Be from Europe or have your packets route through it
1. Please acknowledge in the FYI thread that you are running the trace routes
2. Use notJarvis' script for running trace routes (once a half hour or if you get mondo lag) or be clued yourself
3. Please be sure that it is running during the witching hour (1400-1630 GMT)
4. Please let it run until I say ok, figure a week or less
5. Hold the file local to your hard drive until I give the word

Thanks
MrChaos[/quote]

The notJarvis's script is hosted here http://www.mediafire.com/?fr2ttenzujn.

It is a .bat file. After downloading it, you need to run it.
It will create an directory on C:\ where it will store in .txt file the result of an tracert to Solap,
executed every 30 minutes, while your PC is on.

Not sure if more tracert logs are still required, by MrC, though.
