If we gave IC and Dreg starting figs rather than ints, I could agree to that.
That would change the start pretty quick for both factions.

That sounds like it'll make most factions (excepting giga/TF) the same, which is something I think we're still trying to avoid. It's also a MASSIVE change to both factions opening and those 2 changes alone would probably need their own release.

Dreg was not always "the missile faction." Dreg was given perks to missile damage/tracking as an incentive to go something not exp, as their prohibitive costs made sup and tac incredibly inefficient and wasteful, especially considering their old int models used to be incredible. IC has always had above average missile/PW damage, and there's no real reason to nerf their missile GAs when IC sup is pretty @#(!ty because of bad fig models, among other things.

Except they wouldn't be the same. Bios has cloaking figs that can drop prox. Belters has starting figs that can nan. Rix has starting figs with no missiles and 3 gats. IC would have large, easy-to-hit starting figs with PW and missile damage bonuses (with a slight advantage to their carriers because of a faction-wide energy perk). Dreg would have fast figs with even better missiles, a great DMing model, and great gunmounts. Every faction that has a basic fig to start would still have their own unique flavor of fighter.

As much as I love the lite figs of IC and Dreg, I think this would be a good change. I would like this to be combined with lite ints becoming awailable as soon as exp is up, and forcing even IC to research their ships.

IC would need a stronger economy if they were going to pay normal value for basic/adv tech ships. A typical IC economy right now will match any other faction that has to buy everything straight-up - ships, tech upgrade, then anotehr level of ships - in how fast it can obtain adv tech.

Powerful ships, if you manage to get them up. Sounds good to me. IC lite int can match most ints anyway.
