Stacking is not an offence, however, messing with the ranking system is/should be. As mentioned earlier, a team of 5 vets with 0 hiders vs a team of 5 voobs, will have a suprise outcome, the noobs (vets) winning, therefore, according the the ranking system, the voobs are totally overrated. This means that they will get a huge undeserved drop in rank. IMO that is not right and should be prevented. If you're willing to stack, then at least do it with your main nick. People will hate you anyway once they find out it's your hider.

Yeah, so five guys are gonna all buy new computers and new ISPs so that they can team up and beat the (meaningless) stat system?

What kind of pipe are you smokin?

Do games of only 5 vs 5 even count?

Is Hillary clinton trying to form a world government too?

I kind of have to agree with Orion here. I really can't see, say, Spidey hopping on to a (0) account just to... what would he do? The only people who'd use (0) accounts are a) new comp users who haven't linked yet, b) Juckto's case (they're on a friend's computer who might want to play allegiance soon), or c) are dicks trying to gain the system... so... they can laugh as they're what, really good at the game and no one expects it?

The worst part of (0) hiders is the feeling when you've been podded by a (0). Maybe a vet on the newbie servers, but no one's on the newbie servers anyways so that's really relatively minor.

I understand that BV and co. want to prevent people from trying to beat the HELO system... but... I really, really don't think the situation you described is common or likely, Samby.

I used to make newbie accounts to rotate my callsigns in and out faster so I could occasionally have a real hider (Christ/hk-47/babypowder were all made this way) but I would link to them to my main after like an hour.

The only problem with people doing newbie hiders is:
A) boot protection
and
B) Stacking

Everything else is a non issue. Do I personally think this is a big issue? No because it is quickly apparent who is a newbie and who is not; however, I will partially agree with QDY and say it would be extremely annoying if everyone just had a newbie hider floating around and a 5 people normally ranked 20+ are all on the same team as 0's. That wouldn't be fun for anyone.

tl;dr I don't give a $#@! one way or another and just wanted to chime in!
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

My apologies.

Are you seriously saying that you would rather have a situation where people can re-name themselves every time they play on a computer that ASGS doesn't recognise? Yeah, good luck with that.

I have long had a theory that a lot of the people who play Allegiance have been told that they are "special" by their parents or teachers, just one time too many, and it has affected them forever.

The rules are there for the good of the larger community, you aren't a one off because your mad skillz mark you out as special here, just because your mathematics ability does in RL. If you want us to believe you're better than we are, get your mother to write a note and post it up please.

Allegiance is in the fortunate position of having BV, who writes the rules AND plays the game AND listens to other people who play the game, yey. We get real rules that stop idiots from having a fantastic evening, by $#@!ing up some/everyone elses fun. Juckto, who seems to be a nice enough fellow to me, had choices. He could have linked up the computers and asked for them to be unlinked if the need ever arose. He could have not played. He could have played and not told anyone who he was and risked a hefty ban when he was discovered. Or he could have played, and told BV he wasn't linking the computers, and took his few days.

When you look at the rules, don't look at the ones that stop the little devil in you from doing what they would really like to be doing, and complaining about how unfair they are. Think of how bad it could be if the rule wasn't there, and in this case, you would have every voobish moron who was looking for a little affirmation of how hot and awesome he is, creating a hider every other week. Just to prove people recognise his vettish tendencies even when he isnt using his own name!

Edit# Maybe we can make up a special badge for the special people, and add it to their forum sig, and append @Spcl to their nick? Just a little thought.

That'd go over about as well as the old "Spammer" tag. Suddenly everyone would want their avatar to have Gold Foil Stars photoshopped on their heads. :D

Hear, here Duck.

You have to have a broad back to do what BV has to do.

Give me one of those and I will gladly come back to play. /sarcasm off
I loose my motivation to help out more and more each day to drama like this. Which is why I am mostly /meh on this point. I will continue to play as I always have, with the morals I have been rasied with and if this community finds they don't like myself and others like me who just enjoy playing the game with their friends on TS or squadies, then they can ban us and my Warhammer account, Girlfriend, and IRL activities will get a lot more attention and will thank them.
