People have treated me like @#(! forever and I put up with it pretty well.
But besides that, no, it's not true.
Nobody treated MrC like @#(!. and he just left us a "final" goodbye message in the NI forum.
TE never has claimed to be nor had any interest in leadership, nothing to do with him being treated any certain way.
Pook liked being leader because his home life made him feel powerless because he couldn't control his children.

For as long as I've been playing, we've faced a steady decline in the player base. When I first started playing, the leaderboard had 800+ names; during the SPQR period, somewhere between 500-600; now, less than 200. This decline is NOT a new problem and will probably not be solved by new leadership.

I played a lot of Alleg this week. The first thing I noticed was that there were plenty of new players. We still have a steady trickle of noobs coming in, at about the same rate as when I played a couple years ago. And now that the games are smaller, the skill level is lower, and veterans are more accommodating and less hostile... the new players seem (from anecdotal evidence) to be sticking around at a higher rate than they used to. That's good.

The other thing I noticed was that not only were the games mad small, but I kept seeing the same names over and over and over again. Babelfish, Rollover, Phantom, Kap, Nightflame, Monkage, boe... these (plus a few others) are the vets who actually play. It's a pitifully small group. The problem is not that we aren't getting fresh blood; the problem is that too many vets don't play anymore.

The fact is, if you want alleg to survive... you have to play. There's no other way about it. We aren't going to get a huge wave of new players, and even if we did, I doubt it would save the game the way some people envision.

If you want game play to improve, you have to play. If you want larger games, you have to play. If you are a good commander, please command. Thousands of people have played this game over the last decade. If we got even a small fraction of those to return, we'd be back at sustainable levels-- levels where you could have actual squad play and solid PUGs at most hours during the week.

Alleg has been locked in a negative cycle for a long time; people saw their friends stop playing, they saw game play degrading, they think "oh $#@! allegiance, I'm gonna go play L4D2." The only way we'll reverse that cycle is through effort. Luckily, we still have a sizable and active forum, a forum that vastly overshadows the game in terms of number of users. We need forum users to play. We need everyone who knows ex players to encourage them to play again. We need to say: "remember this awesome game? remember how unique it is? well, it's about to die. play it while you can, because you might not get another shot."

tldr: play, mother$#@!ers, or watch the game die from the forum. your choice.

Althought I dont agree with the ppl he labelled as vets, I agree with cheesy points in the overrall.

You dont wanna this game to die? $#@!in play it.

Heck, even I, in the middle of my exams, and deciding my life, still find sometime to play, even if its not SG time.

Playing the game won't bring it back to life.

The game requires a constant in flow of new players while the vets are around to learn from.

We have neither new players nor vets to learn from and a giant BRICK WALL to keep it this way.
[15:25] <BBT_> oh, so da vinci's mona lisa isn't his work?
[15:25] <+fuh-zz> No, he simply put effort into it.
[15:25] <BBT_> are you really that retarded?

I do play so I DO know.

You would have the reader believe that all is well because YOU enjoyed "a game" that was "competitive". It is that short sighted viewpoint that keeps people from seeing the real situation.

Then why all the threads concerning our lack of players, lack of games, lack of skills, lack of commanders, lack of administration, lack of leadership, lack of support, lack of development, lack of everything except K10 (which we have way too much of).
