They do that, so when you land in the u.s. you've already cleared customs. That way, the aircraft can access any gates at the airport.

In chicago now. Seattle on tuesday. Stupid googlemaps, I walked to 3 bars and they were all shut down like years ago.

Yea, it takes at least a year for google to update. Best to call first. Also, be careful of certain neighborhoods in big cities like Chicago. They will wack you for you're tennis shoes.

Wow, really? I've never experienced that in the Minneapolis area.
Does Chi-town have massive venue-turnover?

When I was in chi-town recently, more then a few bars that were fairly new (5 years or less) had been shut down. Hard times and increasing rent I think.
