Sorry that is absolute rot.
Of course there are rules against newbie boots, as we are a small community and want it to grow. Every community willl have someone who will be a dick to new players, and alleg. has had some players who are/ have been.
I have no idea whether other gaming communities have similar rules, but they make perfect sense to me with a game as difficult to master as alleg.
What evidence do you have that enforcement has colluded? Seriously? or do you just like slinging insults?
QUOTE Actually yes; I did post a thread about unfair boots myself. You know what happened? I got a load of abuse. Just like this thread, just like every thread in which the matter is raised.
No - you were asked whether you went through the proper channels.
Posting a thread on the forums is not through the proper channels.
Newsflash #1 - not everyone on the internet is nice, nor is there any requirement for them to be nice. Especially not on forums provided for free and moderated by volunteers.
The proper channels - if you see boots/behaviour that break the rules in-game, or you want to flag, is to get in touch with BV.
If there's something you have a problem with in the forums - hit that damn report button? you see it? To the left.
QUOTE I don't know if it's "decaying", maybe it was always this @#(!ty. No, I don't hold you persaonlly responsible. But equally, if BV was going to do anything about he would, and should, have done so long ago, so I can only conclude that he doesn't give a @#(!.
Newsflash #2 : BV is not omniscient, and not always in game. He will not see every incident. He very kindly gives up his free time to manage issues, but can only do stuff if people tell him. Again - if you see an issue in game that breaches the rules - feel free to get in touch with BV.
QUOTE I never said anything about noob abuse. I only mentioned that noobs are exposed to the generally poisonous atmosphere.
The other day a player with the edifying name of "wank" gave his team the equally sophisticated name of "sand vagina". Don't ask me. One of the newbs expressed astonishment, but nobody noticed. It's as if alleg is making a deliberate effort to live up to the example set by Beavis & Butthead.
If you have a problem with something in game - get in touch with BV. Be sure to provide server/time/details to make his job easier.
Penultimate Point : You have gone about this the wrong way IMO. You are the equivalent of the person in the workplace who, feeling they have been wronged, start a complaining constantly around the water cooler, and at lunchtime about those who wronged you around the office - without actually ever making it official. You then wonder why no-one takes your side in other things, or wants to sit by you at lunch - it's cos no-one likes a whiner. Frankly - if you kept quiet and went about this the
clearly signposted correct way, you would have iritated far fewer people, and may actually have had much better results for your efforts.
Final Point : Many on-line games have dicks in them, seriously. The difference in Alleg. is that sometimes the dicks will be the commander and have the opportunity to boot people in their team. Now the boot is an essential tool for a commander, if only to remove AFK's or people acting directly against the team, and the commander is given a lot of leeway to use this, as it's a non permanent slap on the hands for players.
Thing is - you can always avoid commanders you don't like flying for, or drop to NOAT and wait for a spot on the other team. You aren't forced to fly for him, any-more than he is forced to keep you on his team.
Seriously - I've nothing against you sharp but you are going about things entirely the wrong way if you want to change things, and are being rather unkind to people who work hard for the community for free.
