QUOTE 1. Changing the way we recruit. Scrambling for a handful of cadets against the other 10 squads is not a way we can survive, let alone grow and get better. Instead of recruiting by experience, we will recruit by personality and potential. So yes, that will mean that some of our pilots will be fairly new to the game; but if they carry themselves in a good way, participate in the squad and improve their game-play I think they can contribute to the squad in a big way[/quote]
This is actually doing a large disservice to the community itself. Instead of these people either joining an established squad or cadet, they join you. You hardly have the facilities to train them into accomplished or even useful players, this increases the communities "voob" quotient. You will also lose high amounts of players to inactivity, players who normally may or may not go inactive if they were in cadet or a semi competitive squad. It's a rare type of person that is ok with losing a lot and wont quit.
If you are honestly considering continuing with this, please consider the effect your actions have on the community.

To be fair that's what you said when SF was forming. I don't know about the rest, but it is NOT a rare type of person that is ok with losing a lot and wont quit. If you're going with the underdogs, you KNOW what you are signing up for. All SFers knew and the vast majority remained.Shizoku wrote:QUOTE (Shizoku @ Oct 2 2009, 02:18 AM) This is actually doing a large disservice to the community itself. That was more because I hated/hate (present and past tense) Striker's guts. Technically under Striker's atrocious leadership, you shouldn't have been able to progress, I'm still scratching my head on why you are still here.
Where as in this instance, I hold no real malice towards anyone in SPQR and am telling it honestly that they really have no hope and are just wasting everyone's time.

Nevermind. It's not worth my time.

SF has done well but SF started with lots of vets didn't it?
Also I think one thing that has massively helped SF was the emergence of squads like SPQR and the devolution of squads like BS and GB so SF could have people to beat while they got into fighting form instead of getting the @#(! kicked out of them every week by everyone.
RT lost every single squad game it played for like 2 years, except SGs against SRM, but they weren't a real squad at that point so it didn't really count.

Things are pretty good ATM. Shiz put XT back together after the drop in roster (up to 32 actives as I write this), and SRM is back on it's feet as well.
Time for all of us to STFU and play SGs like we're supposed to
