I have had items that change their display on the task bar shine through.
Notably Winamp (The song name scrolls at the bottom) and MIRC icon in the bottom right (changes colors when things happen)

I can run it, ran 3 times faster for me compared to before downloading
nVidia GeForce 6200
intel celeron 2.4 GHz
1.5 gigs of ram
Played at 1024x768 60 Hz, 0 AA, 256x256 textures
Sustained 50 fps for me under load, 65-70 with nothing going on. (Yes my computer sucks, shut up)

Just tried running it, and pushed it to the limit:
Running an ATI Radeon Xpress 1200 series onboard graphics "card" with
1680*1050 at 32 bit and 60 hz.
Vertical Sync on
Max texture Size of 2048*2048
Auto-generate minimaps on
Texture pack file on
Ran fine (albeit with low FPS. Don't know how litlle because i don't know how to check it, but it was nearly smooth.)
Texture pack file off: Nothing changed
Auto-Generate Minimaps: Still the same
Max Texture Size of 512*512: Still runs fine.

That also happens with the old client... particularly with Mozilla Thunderbird's email notifications.Andon wrote:QUOTE (Andon @ May 5 2008, 02:40 AM) I have had items that change their display on the task bar shine through.

I'm afraid I have to retract that statement. I've had crashes after playing for a while ('few minutes' range). Some error code that was already listed above. Sorry that I can't report anything more specific yet. I'll try to find the time to test more thoroughly.Cortex wrote:QUOTE (Cortex @ May 2 2008, 03:19 PM) Confirmed working for five minutes (haven't tried longer) on ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 (64MiB) using the settings given and 1024x768@85Hz.
Performance was better than or equal to the regular client.

QUOTE Second is, when I play at anything above 800x600, the in-station screens are shrunken down. I get full screen when I launch, but the screen goes tiny once inside a station/ship selection screen.[/quote]
That's standard. Not related to this release, afaik. Odd that you haven't noticed it before.

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

alright...it may be a little late but it works for me...i also cranked up all the settings...except antialising (which will only go to 6...)
OS:Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Processor:Intel®Pentium® 4 CPU 2.40GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory:1024MB RAM
Video Card: ATI SAPPHIRE RADEON 9600 PRO ATLANTIS
Mind you i was playing the game while listening Iron Maiden on iTunes...and i was also being pummled by MSN Messages and i had 5 internet windows open...so bascically for a welfare computer like mine it runs just fine...ofcourse i was expecting the bases to look less edgy...but i guess you guyz will eventually get to that...

Doah. Thanks for giving it a try, the more chip sets we know about the better. I think any Intel integrated video is going to not work, or at least be suspect at this point.Technical Wonder wrote:QUOTE (Technical Wonder @ May 9 2008, 12:06 PM) Finally got round to testing it on my laptop:
Vista SP1
Mobile Intel 945GM (GMA 950) integrated video
2gb DDR2
Intel Core Duo
It crashes immediately hitting 'Okay' in the settings dialog when Allegiance tries to launch.
