I think my original PAD file has the wrong D/L info in it. The newer ACSS file D/L is at a different address.
The PAD file directs to: <Primary_Download_URL>http://downloads.alleg.net/allegsetup_3 ... wnload_URL>
the game D/L is at: http://freespacecombatgame.com/
It would be much easier to have a re-direct from the original D/L site than to have me re-sub to all the software sites that I have already submitted to with a new PAD file.
I will however change the code in the PAD file if I can get permission from someone to do so.
/ I'm going to halt submissions until then as IKMK has alerted me to this change.

You're wrong:raumvogel wrote:QUOTE (raumvogel @ Jan 19 2013, 04:35 PM) I think my original PAD file has the wrong D/L info in it. The newer ACSS file D/L is at a different address.

PAD-File:
http://downloads.alleg.net/allegsetup_300.exe
http://getsetup.alleg.net uses round robin between the following hosts:
german-borg.de
freespacecombatgame.com
The downloads.alleg.net one is not in round robin, because it has limited bandwidth.
Everything is fine as it is.raumvogel wrote:QUOTE (raumvogel @ Jan 19 2013, 04:35 PM) It would be much easier to have a re-direct from the original D/L site than to have me re-sub to all the software sites that I have already submitted to with a new PAD file.
You find the same file on every webserver:
german-borg.de = freespacecopmbatgame.com = downloads.alleg.net
This is the only valid PAD-File you should ever use and which one I update:
http://downloads.alleg.net/PAD/FreeAllegiance.xml

The download websites only need an URL for the PAD-File, everything else will be automated. Once the URL is within the database, a robot will visit the PAD-file hosted on downloads.alleg.net. Once the robot discovers a change, it will apply the changes (new description, new installer, whatever) to it's own download page. Even if we relocate the PAD file someday, we will be able to announce it via that automated system.BackTrak wrote:QUOTE (BackTrak @ Jan 19 2013, 04:46 PM) Or, we could just replace the old download with the newer acss one, and keep the file name the same. Much simpler than setting up redirects, wot wot?
But that only works, if download sites are aware of the unique PAD-file:
http://downloads.alleg.net/PAD/FreeAllegiance.xml
Someone added the installer to these sites, which aren't get updated automatically, that's why they're out of date, they aren't aware of the PAD-file.
