They (and a whole lot of other people involved in both ACS and CDT) put tremendous effort to run those. For free. Knowing that making any kind of demands regarding how those programs are run are just silly. It's the least they can get for all the work and effort put into running and creating those courses is having a say how do they want to get them run.
When the heck did McBowlz accuse them of trying to get power and profit? He made a tongue in cheek comment about the dictatorship that BV and the other admins hold over the way the game is run. Yes, I know VERY well the tremendous amount of effort that was put into Cadet and ACS. You are doing a disfavor to those that worked so hard on it to keep it confined to the "Select few" who qualify, and want to put all the work in. This is a GAME! Not a bloody advanced technological laboratory.

So does CDT, so does Alleg in general.

Here's another reason why teh ACS requirements are what they are.

You just can't get over the fact that it's only the author's right to decide how his/hers work is used? Or are you just sore about being rejected by the, how you dramatically call it, 'elite'?

CDT is open for ALL. You just have to want to take it. That's it. That sort of broadens your 'selected few'.
As for bowles, he's attitude later in this thread was well described by gui. I don't like that attitude. It's being ugrateful. You get the awesomest game out there for FREE. You get people who wish to help you with the leanign curve for FREE. Then you go around and scream about how unfair it is, that they won't change the way this place is run for you.
As for 'admins dictatorship': admins were selected by the guys who pay the bills so you can play. They were given tools to enforce rules set by those people. If you don't like it, you know where the door is.

Given that Ogo *is* one of those who worked on Cadet I suggest he has a better idea of what constitutes a favour or otherwise to himself than you do.

Not that I've noticed. I haven't been privy to the drop out rate of course, can you show me where you're getting your information from please?
Malicious Wraith wrote:QUOTE (Malicious Wraith @ Dec 7 2007, 02:52 PM) 2. I didnt meet the ACS requirements until WELL into my commanding experience. It would have helped to have the information available earlier.
Just maybe it's best for people to learn to fly well before even considering commanding? Eg. if you don't qualify for ACS then in the vast majority of cases you probably shouldn't be commanding?

First time I've ever been accused of being a monopoly of anything, let alone information /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
At the end of the day the information is "owned" by the people who run the respective courses. It is their call to release or not based on what they feel is the best way to improve the community and train new players/commanders.

You don't know what you talking abóut, that comment is BS..
If you had any common sense you would not make this comment unless you just want attention, thats it.
You would say anything to get attention even BS.
You just want this thread to derail to focus on you and what you think.
Go get some attention from your parents, i bet they miss you..

Once again, as I stated previously, the ACS material is available in plenty of other locations. It's not even spread out (can you say ICE?). There is no information monopoly. ACS is access to comms to critique you and a means to structure your experience as comm. Anyone can pick a faction and a map, create a hider and comm for a week at a time for 9 weeks, c'mon MW. If you don't really know what the ACS material is, and you obviously don't since you haven't taken it, you are are not speaking from a factual base. Those that have created it and experienced it know that there is no magic material in ACS that is hidden from others, just lots of hard work.

MW: It's my natural RIGHT, by virtue of being born to have dozens of people in the Cadet/ACS programs to work their butts off for no thanks whatsoever to help me get a rep in this video game!
US: No. $#@! you.
MW: WAAAAAH!

There has never been a manual or instructional guide to this game equivalent to ACS material or cadet material prior to their creation. The information compiled in those programs was learned the hard way by vets through years of experience playing the game.
Nothing compels these vets to share their information (and put lots of time and resources toward sharing it), yet they do. They do it in a way that they feel will most effectively communicate that information. Yet you criticize them for the manner in which they choose to convey it, and then insult them by calling them elitist for their trouble.
You know what? STFU, do what they did, then start your own program. You can then make it free and open to all, be warm and fuzzy to newbies, and enjoy the nirvanna that you have created. And then you can STFU about it.
