It was 2 because I was feeling kinda bad about it and it was enough to lower the average.madpeople wrote:QUOTE (madpeople @ Mar 2 2007, 05:33 PM) what i don't get is, why a 2 and not a 1
if you were doing it to hurt the rating, a 1 would have worked better, and i don't think anyone here ever rated a game as being that bad :/
Thanks Spawn /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
eRush?Dabby wrote:QUOTE (Dabby @ Mar 2 2007, 08:22 PM) Hey Flander, who are you on Dom? And your callsign in Allegiance? It'd be cool to see a familiar name in-game.
My callsign's eRush. Rush from the Dom boards.
*smacks oneself for not realising....*
I thought I recognised the way you post.

I don't know how many new players we get on an average month. I don't think this is a secret, but I just don't know how to get the information. I assume Pook has it and I guess I am hopeful he will share the info, as it would help either shoot down my theory or reinforce it.
Pook says that retention is a problem. I don't doubt it. Outside of more vet folks saying STOP THE STACK, and getting flamed for defending auto balance, I am not sure what else to do. I have tried working individually with new players and giving them some in game directiions, but I don't think this is enough.
Cadet is a GREAT, EXCELLENT< STUPENDOUS AND WONDERFUL program. I am a graduate. I recommend it to every new player I chat with. My hypothesis is that there is a 'free fall' period where newbies are overwhelmed by things. If we can do something very early to get them to stick around and go through cadet, that would be great.
Pook suggests killing the stacking would probably be the best solution. I agree, adn I will personally climb up on a soap box in the lobby chat to decry the stack. If there is a more effective strategy I can use to defeat the stack, let me know.
But is there anything else we can do, like handhold newbies and give em some survival skills? Are there vets who would be willing to help train the newbies each day on a newbie training server? Is there some other way to formalize this type of thing. Or is it best to remain informal in our retention effrots? Does this informal approach contribute to our low retention rate? Is there a history to newbie traning efforts?
I am asking these questions seriously.

Robin: "Gosh, Batman, this camel grass juice is great."
Batman: "Beware of strong stimulants, Robin."
