Allegiance Ranking System

Main problem is the first games where a newbie can get lucky or unlucky. They really don't know what they're doing most of the time, yet the games have such a huge impact on their later rank.
I got a high rank because I was just joining the team that looked likely to win, if I did the opposite, I'd be stuck down at a 6 instead of 16.
Another possible improvement to the system could take into account the average ranking of the teams throughout the game, and to account for things like an early stacked game, or a handful of game changers jumping into the fight at a point where there's a very delicate balance that can be shifted in favor of whoever was blessed to get players who know exactly what they're doing.
Command win/losses is important too, if the two commanders are unbalanced, that should also have a significant effect on how the rank changes due to a win or loss.

i think i usually leave aa on. The community likes stacking, theys gonna stack. Its less hassle for me and easier for people to join and grow the game.

Yes, but you don't play. People like you are the reason that Allegiance is in the state that it is.Broodwich wrote:QUOTE (Broodwich @ Feb 22 2012, 10:28 PM) i think i usually leave aa on. Now log in to Steam so that we can improve our formidable L4D ranks.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible, will make violent revolution inevitable. John F. Kennedy.
Hmmm.... perhaps we could consider bundling a dataset and donating it to a data mining community like: UCI Machine Learning Repository.
1) More minds working on the problem. Someone might get lucky and come up with the perfect system for us.
2) Free publicity with a niche group that might yield us some players / contributors.
I'm almost kicking myself for not thinking of this when I was selecting my master's thesis topic.
