as for ron paul, he's theories are nice but they're not grounded in reality. He's unelectable on a nationwide basis.

in short, we're all $#@!ed
Nevermind the fact that polling from earlier this year showed that Paul had the best shot against Obama. :glare:

I agree that some of his policies are a bit far out... but remember that he would most likely focus on the most important issues first... the wars and the economy... also remember that Republicans and Democrats in congress won't exactly be foolproof majorities for him to do whatever he wants. It will moderate the entire system.

But if you want to insist that he is unelectable and continue with the establishment candidates from the Republicans and Democrats and not see any actual progress be made... then go ahead.

I like how people voted for Obama because Obama was "Change" yet are scared to vote for the only candidate who actually has the balls to change anything (Dr. Paul)

Against women having the right to decide what happens in their own body, supporting don't-ask-don't-tell... His thinking about human right seems to derive from religious beliefs

...and maybe it's this that makes his views on the rights of homosexuals and women so confused.

That dog won't hunt. With his "strict anti abortion stance" he is standing for the same crowd as all those South-American hellholes. Places where abortion is banned have more abortions, and they are done by back-alley hacks. Women will not surrender control of their fertility to senile old men and supposedly chaste priests, and Ron is a fool for not being true to his libertarian principles in this matter.

All that said, I think he's probably the best candidate for a president you guys have. Too bad he'll never be elected.

You, as in Adept, find Ron Paul to be the best person to be POTUS... why

Is it his conservative bent given what I read from his website
His embracing gun ownership
His economic policy which has those with real money jizzing in their pants?

Sincerely what is it that makes you like him better then every other person running for the POTUS.
I see why Camaro likes him, at least from what he writes on these forus but you...

A green party, very liberal (even if you yourself don't see it at times) leanings again all based on what you write on the forum only

Btw this isn't a troll and to me liberal doesn't mean evil incarnate but then again the tea party doesn't mean ignorant yokel to me either. I don't get my views from Fox or MSNBC or for that matter NPR/BBC ;)

I'm just curious to understand

MrChaos <--- sees no one he ready to call POTUS yet and is only scratching names off the list, Paul hasn't been scrratched off yet

Don't get me wrong. If I had a wish from a genie your president would be Ralph Nader. I'm sure that's not a surprise.

The cranky old libertarian Paul has a marginal but real chance of actually becoming the president, and I think him getting elected would shock the system to the core... and probably in a good way.

Does that make any more sense?

ron paul does not have a real chance of being elected because he doesn't have the media's favor, which is the biggest and most key requirement to win that election

This particular point is moot because he believes that the state should not recognize any sort of marriage.

As for being pro-life and pro-choice, even the libertarian party is split over that.

If you do more research on him you will find that while he has conservative leanings personally... his policy stances don't necessarily reflect his personal beliefs... tending to favor more libertarian freedom.

I would venture to say the only reason he is even talking about social issues right now is to try and gain Republican support during the primaries.
