Bump

Code: Select all

Session Start: Fri Oct 22 13:29:52 2010
Session Ident: Bard|NotHere
...
[13:33] <pkk|GB> what happends to the outdated readme
[13:33] <pkk|GB> and FAQ
[13:33] <Bard|NotHere> the readme needs to be re-written, it's @#(!.
[13:34] <pkk|GB> that's not my job, that's job of the ZLs
[13:34] <Bard|NotHere> I'd like a condensed version of some of the stuff AEM has done for tutorial descriptions and some of the wiki stuff, but the documentation ZL (juckto) has been absent lately
[13:34] <pkk|GB> how "run" this community
[13:34] <Bard|NotHere> so nothing has been done there
[13:34] <Bard|NotHere> so the readme still sucks
[13:35] <pkk|GB> readme should also contain known issues with graphic cards like intel
[13:35] <Bard|NotHere> YES
[13:35] <Bard|NotHere> good point
[13:36] <Bard|NotHere> known issues in readme.
[13:36] <Bard|NotHere> I'm really happy that you're doing this
[13:36] <pkk|GB> every zone has to write their part of the readme
[13:36] <Bard|NotHere> yep.
[13:37] <pkk|GB> and it should contain ToS/RoC (no idea if the current does)
[13:37] <Bard|NotHere> I'll start a thread in the mostly-empty ZL forum right now. That should get the ZL's to notice it.
[13:37] <pkk|GB> + MS shared source license
[13:37] <pkk|GB> k

Waiting for new updated readme of ZLs.

Code: Select all

Session Start: Wed Oct 27 17:41:43 2010
Session Ident: notjarvis
[17:41] <pkk|GB> hey
[17:41] <notjarvis> Oh hello
[17:42] <notjarvis> You alright?
[17:42] <pkk|GB> what's the status of readme rewrite
[17:43] <notjarvis> Theres a thread up in the ZL forum. The helpline and juckto have contributed. I haven't yet as I've been in disneyland Paris for the last few days with the kids
[17:43] <notjarvis> I'll give it a nudge and try to do something about it this weekend, as I'm currently busy with the last few days of my employer.
[17:44] <notjarvis> We should have something then (sorry for delays which are probably my fault)
[17:44] <pkk|GB> I needs only a short overview about training programs (advertising)
[17:44] <notjarvis> yeah
[17:45] <pkk|GB> main part will be tech support/dev (known issues with graphiccards/firewalls)
[17:46] <notjarvis> Yeah. Freeb has been on that - so we should have something soon. I'm still catching up a bit
[17:46] <pkk|GB> I'm just asking because I want to finish installer before early/mid nov
[17:47] <notjarvis> Yup. excellent stuff. I'll give it a nudge to see what's going down.
Session Close: Wed Oct 27 23:10:33 2010
Getting no response sucks...

So, installer got updated.

It now uses Readme page of wiki:
http://www.freeallegiance.org/FAW/index.php/Readme

This build will also check for DirectX 9.0c Feb 2010.

Do you think it's good enough to replace the old installer or can we help you with more testing?

I just found a minor problem yesterday and fixed it.

The more people test it, the better the quality of the installer will be... ;)

ATM I think the installer is pretty close to perfection.

That sounds great. I hope can use the "Release-Version" real soon!!!!!!!! soon.

I can test it again on VPC with XP sp3 or real-vista PC, if you tell me to, but when I tested it the last time*, it worked without problems and only needed "button-beautification". :ninja:

*I tested against a "fresh" system, and against a system with all stuff installed (step1: install alleg + stuff; step2: uninstall alleg; step3 install alleg), both "worked" (vista sp3 VPC). On Vista(real PC) uninstall->install worked too.

PKK you should also include the EXEpath registry entry for 1.1 if it's not already included.

Cool.

Now lets just pray and hope Orion doesn't get his wish to use MSI format for CSS/R6 . . . .
