I got fooled, but didn't get p/oed. I figured Tiger just had a bad day or something, and since nobody knew the guy who was banned for a while, that he was a fake. Crono did call it, he posted in SF that he thought it was an April Fools joke. I've seen evil admins, and TE and BV are far from them. ;-)

And yeah, I got a lot less worried after the log got posted, so I could look and see TE being uncharacteristic. ;-) Approach might have been better if BV posted the logs, and said something like:

Okay, I know TE was drunk, but I'm a slave to his will, so stacking will now be a bannable offense. The ROC has been updated to say as such, so go over there and look at it. That should have been done the day before April 1, and then you get 24 hours of handing out 0 min bans for arbitrary reasons, with the April Fool listing in the ROC.

That's what I was talking about when I said "I honestly can't believe some of the reactions in this thread..." although it seemed I was talking about the opposite.

It really was a little scary :x

And for what its worth Orion, regarding using admin tools as toys... I feel it is warranted in some cases. It can be funny to 0min ban a guy after a hilarious situation ingame provided it's done in FUN, and is received as FUN by the person banned and everyone else watching at the time. It's also necessary that this FUN is rare and not the norm.
When the tools get abused for this purpose, that is where the line is crossed, but not in using a tool to carry out a joke. That is the purpose of tools afterall - to help perform an action. Who says you can only use a hammer to drive a nail into wood?

TE, There have been more evil admins before. You are not one of them. Even evil admins, however, still have cheerleaders.

I get the feeling theres more people reading this thread who were completely oblivious until now but would say otherwise to save a little embarrassment /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> . I was always personally skeptical of the whole incident from the start, but there was a day or two around the start where i fell hook, line, and sinker for it. Then after i used a little logic, i figured throwing gas on a fire might make things a little more believable, and if it looked to get out of hand, i might be able to inject a little logic to calm it down. Too bad my literary skills are below par at best /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

This was definitely ill thought out, one of the purposes of an April fools joke is that it actually occurs in April, usually on the 1st. I don't approve of using the administrative tools as if they are toys.
I couldn't do a better job at running a community if I tried. I don't care if they booted me, I'm not going to make a fuss about it. Having the burden of running a community WITH help brings nightmares to the mind. After all the fuss towards the admins, I support my statement double.
Shoot the nans.

Well I for one am glad this is over or at least out in the open now. There was some real damage done but the community will get over it. BV and TE REALLY HAD THE BEST OF INTENTIONS, they really do care about this community.

Hope to see you all in game.

... i actually agree with orion...

... i think thats a sign of the apocalypse /doh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doh.gif" />

using asgs to assign random names...

choosing this as a subject of a joke was a very bad decision, un-justified use of bans and privileges is a well known sore spot in our community, so specifically doing something involving that is inherently £$%&tarded.
i'm thinking its analogus to
26/march 2003: some planes crash into some buildings
admins: oh no, terrorists
people: ahh terrorists!
others: CIA did it

on april1 2003,
admins: just kidding folks, the towers were empty, noone died except some people who wanted to, april fool /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
people: seriously, that's not funny

wood work teachers do

QUOTE We wanted things to seem so implausible[/quote]

a problem with that is, you've previously been seen to not listen to other people's opinions or be flexible, we've seen you refuse to change your mind from what you think when presented with perfectly reasonable arguments repeatedly previously;
so when you banned beer and you refused to take into account anyone else's arguments and stuck to your decision and refused to see what is wrong with it, it didn't really come as anything unusual.

your previous inflexibilities on matters has alienated people who are actively trying to help the community, and actions and decisions you have taken have discouraged people from volunteering to help make the community better.
you seem to tolerate unofficial (non-FAZ) development efforts, but not encourage them, and it would seem like if you had your way every there would only be the FAZ team developing things for allegiance and everything else would be blocked.
you seem to treat non-FAZ devs as second class devs/citizens and its not really appreciated.

i'm feeling rather alienated right now.
for making bad decisions like pulling stunts like this,
being un-supportive of people who dedicate time to try and improve allegiance
and refusing to be flexible or consider compromises
i am rather tempted to change my vote to yes

i hope you feel very bad about this

i am almost happier with the situation where our admins might be randomly banning people but capable of taking hard decisions, even if they can't take them well rather than the situation today where our admins are bad at decision making and do things which harm the community and think they would be a good joke and do things without thinking them through.

i am not very happy about this.

and don't think you can do the pink boards again, it will just remind us about this failed joke.
yes, the structure of this post sucks, and some bits may have expressed things too strongly or in bad taste but i can't be bothered to do it properly, i'm busy contemplating whether i want to continue to spend time trying to improve things in allegiance

edit,
re: a week early
you should have known that drama on FAO moves fast, 1 day early might just have been about right, but it still would have been fail
