So ozzy booted you for being an idiot?Weylin wrote:QUOTE (Weylin @ Dec 19 2007, 07:21 PM) The last time he threatend to boot... I launched to defend a base, suddenly realizing I was the only one defending (???) Didnt remember seeing anything saying not to D. Anyways I was faced with a bomber and 20 somthing other ships and couldn't turn around fast enough after the warning....
So before he booted me I d/c and joined 5 mins later unharmed for the rest of the game /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />
Good boot stories
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

My apologies.
My first boot : By Shiz, for not being able to defend a TF Adv Exp from an HTT run. Hey, I sucked in ints those days :/
My first boot : Never booted anyone.

My First boot: As a (4), I had just picked up Hunter2 and announced it, Jimmy goes to tell me "Dock that"... 5 secs later i realize I'm the only scout on our side of the map and have 5 ints with me, and we're still trying to find the next aleph. So I continue and find their home aleph and Jimmy PM's me to find the middle aleph through their home (this was IO). I enter their home and, at this times I didn't know how to manage my sig and find myself being chased by an int. Podded soon thereafter. "Damn lost hunt2" is quickly followed by "wtf the newbie hates me...", "I wish i could boot you", etc. I promptly save him the trouble and grief and boot myself. Not a true boot, but I take it as my first.
I can't remember the true first one though, last one I had was running out of fuel halfway a miner rush and immediately being under attack at which time I turn around and pod the guy... followed by "You have been banned from this mission"... Relog and explain unsuccessfully.
My first boot: Blake. We were IC, I expanded innitially by pushing the initial tele about 3 sectors forward (this is LimDiamond) next to a nice Exp rock and our op low to the choke where they planted their op too. I get overeager and buy an op to secure the other choke high and front our future exp which I only partial. Next minute they bomb our tele, our op con, defended only by scouts, has to rip and we also are unable to defend the op con low. All sectors next to our home are sup rocks. Sup con is bought despite innitially partialing the exp. Blake bitches... a lot. The lines of chat go so fast that my order to defend the op and sup con to high are there for less than 1 sec. Boot. Only boot so far.
Edit: Strikethrough.

My first boot: Ozzy disconnected and as an above-(4) newbie I became the lucky winner of the new comm lottery. Ozzy comes back on a minute later screaming for comm. In between trying not get podded I frantically search through the heretofore-unseen F6 menu for a button that looks something like "Make Leader". People are yelling at me in the chat but I'm too harried to read it. Eventually the team mutinies to Ozzy, who promptly boots me for lacking a clue. (Only later do I learn that the "Make Leader" button is cleverly disguised as "Team Deposit").
First person(s) I've booted: during a squad game Thursday, the main server was hurting for a lack of qualified players, so me(Belters) and KingArthur(Bios) start a small game on HiLo. It was all fun and games, I was losing miserably, but then the squad games ended and (it seemed) all of XT joined my side. After that, winning was for some reason much easier. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" /> We blew KA's sup and pushed him back to his home sector. But then I began running into problems sealing the deal, and my (in retrospect, stupid) plan to SB against four camped gunships didn't gain me much followers. Rhow proposed mutiny first, and at first I wanted to cut him some slack -- I didn't want to boot a heretofore productive teammate for messing around, but then Void tried a mutiny and I realized if I didn't act, I would have problems. After booting Rhow and Void, we went back to nanned bomb runs (with mixed success), and eventually I built a SY and the ended the game that way.
Best boot story: I don't really have one. One that sticks is mind is a game where spidey booted 7 bombers (including me) for not ripping to a tp2 that he had dropped. Seeing as there had been a few false drops by a few voobs earlier in the game, and that spidey never announced where he was going to drop the probe, nor that he was dropping or had dropped it at all, there was some reason for this confusion. (I was about 2 seconds from ripping before it was destroyed). In my mind, if there were one or two bbrs that failed to rip, that could be blamed on incompetence. But if you have seven independent people -- some of them voobs like me, but not all of them -- and they ALL fail to do what you want, that's pretty clear evidence of a failure to communicate. Eh, whatever.

Less than 5 mins into the game - booted by Crafty
I had launched in a std scout when playing Rix.. that took less than a minute (had to load more probes)
Picked up prox 2 and nanite 2 before returning as ordered.. maybe at minute two now, wasn't watching the clock
Returned to base and found where con was which needed con d then loaded extra fuel - it was going to take a bit to make into the same sector.
Just about to lauch...... hmm returning to lobby.
Enquire (politely as always - mom told me to be polite to strange men) as to why he booted me and was told the above reasons were good enough.
Well bugger me. I shoulda stuck to my decision not to fly for someone who rants and raves as much as he does. Apparently the fact I am still a cadet and trying to learn this game doesn't mean anything to this twit. Lesson learnt. Don't do the above crimes(?) and well, figure it out.

Expert Pod Pilot and Damage Magnet, padding KB's in a sector near you
I can't remember who was comming, but he told me to plant the op. There was no op con in my sector. I tried to PM him to say that I was a newb and didn't understand what he was talking about, or even where a good place to put an op was. Somehow I screwed up and called him a newb instead, but before I could type an apology I was booted. You'd think English wasn't my first language. Other than that, I think I've mostly been booted by Ozzy. For a determined, good-humored noob like myself, getting booted by Ozzy was a good way to learn the game. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

PsycHosis, ImmortalZ, Terralthra and I interrupted starfire doing one of those 'com practices' against a newb, PsycH and Terr jumped on the newbs team, ImmZ and I on starfire's, I mutinied, got comm and instantly booted star, where we proceeded to finish the game (a draw after a few HTT runs)

I don't remember my first boot, but I remember being booted by virulence. After I was back in the game lobby, I asked for an explanation and he realized he booted me by an error in judgement. I joined the enemy and won the game on the new side. From then on I always joined the other team, when virulence commanded. Nowadays, I don't hold gudges that long anymore.
I don't remember if I ever booted someone. I probably did and if I did, I am sure it was well deserved. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
