This is one of the more interesting threads here, allowing a bit more insight to fellow players mind than the usual tedious drama of "ffs stfu u $#@!ing n00b". Living in a country that shares really none of these (infamous) litigation issues with U.S, makes me naively curios:

Isn't this whole spurious lawsuits problem just a opportunity in disguise? Don't frivolous lawsuits generate countersuits and greedy lawyers offering a percentage of future damages from obvious metaphysical harm due to malicious prosecution? Too much LA Law?

Does anyone else find

a bit worrying?

I'm a lurker and will probably revert after this, feel free to dismiss.

Thanks.

Not on-topic entirely, but this talk of press freedom and the relationship between the press nad the politicians made me think of this interesting article....

It means going out to smoke a cig, nothing more. Some drama queens keep trying to make more out of it then it was /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

now if he was "grabbing a cig or two" that orchistrating IPBM launches against mars...

Phantom edit: Spliffy, no offence, but I have ahsma(sp) I cant even go in a "smoking OK" building without my inhaler. But for the love for freedom, Leave it to the buisness to decide, dont legislate it away! :hotbutton:

This is why you should spend 100 bucks and form an LLC owned by a partnership to put some barriers between your assets and lawyers. Oh no Mrs. Sue Averyone has gotten a judgement against me LLC. What ever will I do, my LLC will have a bad credit rating.

But seriously if you are worried about lawsuits you should put some distance between your personal assets and the assets you give freely to this community.

You can also buy board of direcetors insurance for the LLC to really give yourself peace of mind, that protects the board, you from liability arising from your actions for said LLC, just incase some swarmy lawyer manages to get some idiot judge to pass the judgement to you personally. A lawyer can explain alot more then me.

This is a good idea.

Also note that if it is a non-profit, charitable type entity, greedy SOB lawyers will be less likely to sue because they know judges and juries will look upon such charity favorably and upon the evil, money grubbing sue-happy bastards less favorably.
