Personally, I severely dislike videos on front pages. I much prefer a link to a "video section" or something. There you can have an embedded video on the index page of the trailer and a listing of other videos.

I may change it or at least come up with different variations. I think a video player on the front page is a good thing, but not really necessary as long as we have a few good screenshots. The problem with video is we need too large video player or else you can't really see the command view sections well. I'll mess around with it.

Well, we don't have good screenshots and wall'o'text is what we are replacing... what do you suggest to have, then?

What I am thinking is having a slideshow in place of the video on the front screen and change the Learn More link to "Watch Videos". Here is what it would be like except that I will be putting text on top of the images..such as the review quotes and whatever else works well there.

For someone who already knows and likes the game those are nice shots and the slide show does look polished and well made, but:
1. those shots don't descibe the game nearly as nicely as your video did
2. a video is 100 times more attention grabbing and compelling than some screenshots

I think a portal page is the perfect place for a video/trailer especially when having a very nice one (or two) to show. Perhaps you might want to rethink the autostart feature, althought I'm personally not bothered by it.

And besides - I'm not really a dictator. Just an owner of some servers. The ZLs lead and can overrule me on anything community-related (ie they can't tell me how I run my servers, although they could replace me/my servers.)

Saw this coming, though certainly can't say I agree. The page looks sloppy and I don't think it is much of an improvement over bacon's page and is worse than what we had before.

Also that video is going to be taken down. It is an old version. I'm still working on the videos and this one was meant to be down already. I only left it up briefly to compare it with the newer one.
