I live in a paradise where everyone is white republican farmer/hunter type that keeps a shotgun at home and in their truck. One of the safest places in the world.
At the other end of the spectrum - liberal population centers full of minority gang violence. Remove those areas for statistical purposes and united states becomes safe beyond all reason - while still armed to the teeth with things that go bang. and no acid attacks.
Maybe we should ban minorities and the poor because there's a much larger correlation between those things and violence than there is between violence and firearms.
Pretty sure the same applies to Britain and their acid attacks.
However It would be nice if the FBI would do their job and actually block people from legally buying weapons over the counter if they are clearly high risk/violent/deranged/etc.
But moreover it's infinitely irresponsible, criminally negligent as far as I'm concerned that schools just put up a sign that says "gun free zone" and then call that a legitimately enforced gun free zone while doing basically to enforce that.
At my high school we have one fat rent-a-cop that probably couldn't sprint to respond to an active shooter situation without having a heart attack. But even if he could - the campus is wayyy too large for a single person to effectively do anything unless he happens to be in the right spot at the right time and remembers how to actually aim a pistol.
in other news, the US just had a mass shooting stopped by a hero with a gun. this happens more often than you'd think.
and there's something about a serial bomber going on
these don't get much media attention because they don't fit the agenda
