And yes, it feels kinda good to come out of the cage, Dorj.
There are people in game who will answer your questions, Dorj is definitely one of them.
People often say to use Teamspeak to ask questions etc. too.

RohanRider wrote:QUOTE (RohanRider @ Jun 16 2009, 04:57 PM) EWS sight it 500m.
What's the sight for RPs, Beacons, and Sanctuaries?
I would use ICE, but I still haven't taken the time to download it.
Spinoza wrote:QUOTE (Spinoza @ Jun 17 2009, 04:27 AM) FFS guys, download TEK!
ICE is only for the really obscure stuff.
Anyhow, RP scan range is 1000m and sig is 11% and change.
To finish this out:
TF beacons have 500 scan and 5% sig.
Belt Sancs have 500 scan and 75% sig (ews only has 25-30% sig.) AND sancs will rescue enemy pods as well as yours! So only put them in enemy sectors and/or far from prying eyes.

Actually the IC RP is closer to 12% sig
EWS 1: 500m, 30%
EWS 2: 600m, 25%
EWS 3: 700m, 20% (this one is from memory)
beacon: 500m, 5%
IC RP: 1000m, 12% (from ICE

)
Sanctuary: 500m, 75%
In other words, wtf are you doing not probing with beacons? Also put an IC RP on every single non refinery base your opponent has... at like 1k meters out, somewhere off the plane. They'll never find it and you'll eye everything important that comes out.
Also, at spinny:
I prefer ICE to TEK for most things because TEK can't do certain things. TEK can't give you time to kill for certain things, like ten dis2 figs on a giga op (it's because one dis2 fig will technically never kill the giga op, you have to have I think two gats equipped).
EDIT: TEK is also necessary for things like DM classes, and a few other nifty tools (scan range at angles, easy time to kill)

Join CDT too. all your questions will be answered.....
Note :The downloads page may not have the most recent version of each of the tools. It may be best to do a forums search for them....

Dorjan wrote:QUOTE (Dorjan @ Jun 17 2009, 12:54 AM) Now that is a good question. I myself drop a full load (4-5) probes on a hostile aleph. 1-2 on a safe to assume rare enemy movement aleph. One load of random probes in the sector on the major route makes it done. So 3 full runs for a basic scout to make a sector fully done in my books.
If you're IC. Two RP's should be enough
I didn't notice this. Dorjan is clearly a belt & suspenders type, and also wears two pairs of pants just in case
As my post was mostly about early - midgame probing, just make sure there is one
well placed probe / aleph, and the situation is better than in most PuGs.

Just remember - whenever you probe, use adequate protection!

It is heartening to say, based on this lil discussion, I didn't do half bad when I probed. Soon I will have everything fixed so I can play again.
