This might be a good time to take a break and contact Tigereye regarding the issue.

I'm speaking to him aswell :)

It may be a problem with AllSrv running on Win2008Server. I've just installed the server app on my work desktop and it started and attempted to contact the public lobby as expected. Dammit!

Not running 2008Server isn't really an option, as the machine is already running other game servers. I might be able to throw up an XP Install in a virtual machine on a linux box or something though.

ps. dammit!

edit: also, seeing as it worked on my XP Desktop, i exported the entire allegiance registry tree and replaced the one on the server with it.. still no dice.

Oh wow!

I was thinking about using Windows Server 2008 for a box at home, but I guess I'll have to stick to XP

Does it have anything to do with Server 2008 being designed for a x64 architecture only?

Win Server 2008 is available in both 32bit and 64bit mode. Most 32bit apps will work well in 64bit server. For optimum performance of course you'd want software designed especially for a 64bit operating system.

I have made a thread regarding this issue in the dev forums.
Hopefully someone there can help.
