Just saying how to use a png and not a jpg. Nothing further than that.

Once you encode into JPeg you lose the PNG formatting, no matter what you do it cant be retreived.

So once you save a PNG as Jpeg, you can then save the JPeg as a PNG, but its still a JPeg by heart.

JPEG is a lossy compression, i.e. it throws information (sharpness) away. When that information is gone, you can't bring it back. Only Hollywood can take 3x3 pixels and "enhance" them until the face of the murderer is recognisable.

Oh god, you encouraged Cort to start on about png vs jpg - isn't that against the forum rules yet?


For the record, old images and jpgs are fine for this competition. But remember to pick only one of your shots so far as your official entry. Voting starts next week sometime.

That'll depend on what surprising new rules next month's competiton might have. But in principle I have no problem with it.
