I don't see why not, hell we could have a power plant or factory or compound or ...something, spice things up a little /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I've been thinking that we could have randon but still pre determined maps. this could be done in 3 stages:

1. A map is picked. the server goes through each sector and picks a random "style". the styles would be pre-made maps with themes like urban, open field, mountains, islands, ect.

2. the server then goes through the sectores and places the alephs at random locations on the sector. the locations the server can choose from will be designed into the styles.

3. all the information is sent to the players and verified.

the maps would still be random but not so random as to be impossible to synchronise. as time goes by we could add more styles to the game. ie. 3-4 variations of a style or completly new ones.

the compound/power plant idea, i like, enclosed areas, air vehicles would be hard to shoot other people with because of being inside, unless you were in a hover air vehicle and could just hover up or down to the height of a window and shoot through /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" /> Bases surrounding the compound, ground vehicles have limited access to the inside (or probably none),

would be a good place to have a "capture the flag spot"

If you go with procedural you will be going with fractional Brownian motion in all likelyhood. You might look into using Terregen for in the very least sky textures. (Ground Control, BF 1942, and Serious Sam use Terregen generated sky textures) Or maybe even ask in their forums if anyone could help with heightmaps, ground textures, or skys.
