Bacon_00 wrote:QUOTE (Bacon_00 @ Mar 27 2007, 08:26 PM) I think if we limit a server to tagged players (and find a way to allow merc vets in), stacking will be a non-issue. I generally decide if a team is "stacked" or not by counting how many tagged people are on each team. It's not exact, but it gives a good rough estimate.
The original incarnation of Alleg DID have Adv/Nov settings for servers. I don't think it's elitist in the slightest to want to have adv-only servers. We have been playing this game for 7 years, and we REALLY don't want to have to deal with people who play at the level we were playing at 6 years ago. We're past that, and we want more in our daily game.
Think of it like baseball. Is it elitist to not allow AA teams to play the Yankees?
Honestly it might tighten the games up but it won't stop stacking because not all tagged players are equal. To expand on your baseball metaphor, imagine that you had to form two teams out of a pool that includes the Yankees, a AA team, and a Little League Kids team. Removing the little leaguers from the pool still leaves you with t e Yankees and the AA team. Unless they balance out, a disproportianately sized AA team is still going to get clobbered by a mostly Yankee team... just not to the degree that a disproportianately sized AA and Little League team would get clobbered by a mostly Yankee team.

Good point, Lindy. But, while it may be true that weeding out newbies will leave us with AA/AAA/Pro players, and stacking will still occur, it'll be a hell of a lot less annoying than having a team of 20 tagged players going up against a team of 10 (#)'s and a few tagged players. At least with tagged players, you can count on the fact that they at least know how to do most everything that a team might need to win (Galv, SB, nan, probe, etc.).
I'm just growing a bit tired of the quality of pickup games recently. While I'm extremely happy to see newbies coming into Allegiance and actually sticking around, I don't necessarily want to play with them while they are in the learning stages. There are so many resources this community has provided to newbies that I really don't have the patience, when commanding, to deal with questions like "how do I load a nan?" or "what should I be doing?" These are definitely important questions, but when commanding (or even just flying...) I don't have any desire to deal with them. I just want to play.

first, it makes a huge difference to cadets and newbs to get to play with more experienced players. yes, even get yelled at. be more flexible, get a list of players and go to another server and ask nobody but the specified to play.
second, cdt without their tags, is that an exception?
