Allegiance In Steam Greenlight?
So, I'm completely clueless about these things in a technical sense, but is the problem not getting MS to even notice us?
So is there something we can do, perhaps even a little illegal in the sense of outside the contract, that would get MS to notice us, just so we could say something along the lines of:
"Look, you already have a great product here. We are willing to do all the legwork. You can has any profit (can we make this a partnership) this effort makes, just let us get it on steam? No cost to you, and maybe some profit. You were kind enough to let us keep playing, we love you, you are awesome, how about let us roll with it some more and the worst thing that can happen is nothing, at not cost to you, and if it picks up steam, all the glories are yours."
So steam won't touch us? How about kickstarter? Can we make a proposal there? Once MS notices us, we can cut a deal. We explain we tried to get to talking with them before and that's all we wanted. Once they realize we were just trying to get their attention and aren't seriously trying to screw em over, if we are smart about it, I can't imagine they will feel the need to waste anyone's time with a lawsuit that, btw, you can't get blood from a stone anyways.
I think worst case scenario, they tell us to forget about it. But since their cost should be minimal to zero, I can't see why they wouldn't let us take a chance on reinvigorating Microsoft Allegiance.
?
P.S. And of course by we are willing to do the legwork mean those of you that can
But I'm behind you in principle!

I'm a farmer and carpenter (with a mild cancer that makes concentration difficult and hampers memory), you want me to try coding?
I wish I could help, and I hope you know your work is appreciated. I'm glad to see it's finally being included.
But back to the discussion at hand, which was about moving alleg forward, and not whether I or any number of other players have any talents to contribute.

Just to clear the air.
Unless Rick rashid, or anyone at Microsoft concedes the copyright to any of us, we cannot publish Allegiance on any digital content delivery service.
To complicate the matter MS has also, ownership of any community made artwork, as well as factions.

MS doesn't own anyone's artwork or factions. Just because they state that they WILL own any work done beyond their own, doesn't mean that they DO own it.Blacksun94 wrote:QUOTE (Blacksun94 @ Sep 25 2015, 05:14 AM) ...To complicate the matter MS has also, ownership of any community made artwork, as well as factions.
Moot point anyway.
Send MS a check for 20 bucks and note on that check that cashing it constitutes an agreement of sale. Some Accounts Receivable clerk will deposit that check under miscellaneous income and you've got yourself a game (that probably isn't worth what you paid).

What frustrates me the most about this whole issue is that M$ wont care enough to interact in any legal manner with this community until such point as we say "#$&* IT! WE'RE DOING THIS" and get it on Greenlight in which case they could sue.
What kind of press lashback do you suppose that could result in? A community keeps a game afloat for years, paying out of pocket and devoting their valuble time to it, they really want to make the game available and known to more players, and for M$ to swoop in and take them down?
Maybe they wouldn't care, maybe if it even did get their attention, a revision to the copyright could be agreed on?
I see some really horrid &^%$ show up on steam greenlight, and to see Allegiance not be able to get recognition just really kills me.
