Hmm.. I'm trying to decide if it's worth dropping $1600 on an extended drive train warranty. It's a lifetime warranty which really means so long as the repair cost doesn't exceed the value of the car.

If you put that $1600 in a mutual fund you could pay for any repairs anyways and have money left over if you don't use it

Also that's steep, an extra like 8% just for that warranty, that in 5 years (when you become likely to need it) would drop substantially in value since the car will be worth so much less.

I drove a Jeep Cherokee Classic for a few years, then after it got too old and unreliable (it was a '96 and we sold it in 2010... it was running great when we sold it, but things were breaking fairly often and I didn't want to deal with it anymore), I bought a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. I LOVE MY WRANGLER. Perhaps not the most economically sound vehicle, and I don't really do off-roading (though I have taken it on some pretty horrible "roads" and it did great) but I freaking love it and ya'll can go to hell =)
IMO if you enjoy driving the Jeep, get the Jeep. I dislike people telling others which car they should drive. Buying a giant gas guzzler SUV for driving in the city is pretty silly (not that this is what you'll do, just hypothetically), but if that's the car you want, then get it.
The little Jeep!

Is it just me, or are all car dealer websites painful?

It won't bust down by the time the warranty will pay itself off, don't bother Just get ready to pop in a new one in, don't floor it from stop sign to stop sign.
