Warcraft 3 isnt the same. You can compare the units there fairly easily until you get to end game stuff. Rifleman=Headhunter
Most units were almost the same in WC3 just with different skins. I still love it though.

I think you mean Starcraft there.. it's about the only game that managed to pull off 3 totally different factions and balance them perfectly vs each other.

It's been a while since I played War3, but mainly i was thinking about how one faction's starting combat unit was ranged while the others were melee, another used its starting combat unit for gathering a resource, each had different rules for building stuff - things that you might not want to do in Alleg, even if you could.
